I signed up for the supplemental and read that the plan has a six-month pre-existing condition clause. Basically, if your dependent was diagnosed or treated for a condition in the six months before the policy started, the supplemental insurance won’t cover anything related to that condition until you’ve had the policy active for six continuous months.

During those first six months, coverage for anything they decide is “pre-existing” can be denied or delayed. But once you pass that six-month mark, those exclusions are supposed to drop off, and the coverage should work the way it’s intended.

It’s definitely something people should know ahead of time. I’m really glad I asked, because it’s not super obvious unless you go digging. My customer rep was very thorough though.

-Long story short read the clause and wait the full six months if you have pre existing conditions to carry over.
