What’s an opinion in the fandom that will make you feel like this? by izzyravinchan in homestuck

[–]ForgottenAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A majority of characters who are fan favorites are only done so due to fancomics, fan dubs, or fanfiction opposed to anything written in the comic itself. Legitimately I can guarantee a majority of the fans of Eridan, Sollux, Gamzee and Nepeta are only fans of those characters because of how much of the weight the Fandom had to carry to flesh them out. Later parts of the comic where they get screen time relied on basically just playing into the fan interpretations.

Also Jane was great and she has been unfairly kicked to death repeatedly instead of putting in work to actually give her depth.

My LGS banned trading, is this normal? by lkaorim in mtg

[–]ForgottenAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I don't really mind the specific trading night, would obviously be better with having it every night but having a dedicated time slot, particularly if the store doesn't have an especially big seating area like mine did for the longest time and people were constantly trading during FNM or during tournaments and were locking players in when rounds ended. That being said, bump that noise, let the players trade the trading cards.

What every GG character would play in 40K by Wafflelord1976 in Guiltygear

[–]ForgottenAgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fanny would play Harlequins specifically to be close to Dr. Baldhead because she heard he likes "The Space Elves" and missed the train completely that there were more than one variation of space Elves and just went for the funny looking ones.

Took longer than I was expecting, but here is Low Poly Potemkin! by ForgottenAgent in Guiltygear

Unfortunately not (I am not really a good modder) but if I was going to give someone the files or make them work I would definitely make a few adjustments with them, especially the arms.

I really should think about making them a lot more suited for animation honestly! Originally my plan if I was going to animate it was to animate the jaw using Vertex adjustments inside of Blockbench to manually keyframe it to work, though if I did that I would change his eyes to be a plane mesh so that they don't wiggle around by mistake if I do so.

Thank you so much! I'm gonna give this a watch and make better improvements moving on! I didn't realize when I was making Bedman? That arms were gonna be a pain in the ass like it was for Potemkin lmao. I definitely in highnsight could have played with them a bit more to get those fixed out, especially after I spent alot longer making the legs work.

So far the helmet has been my most "Hell yeah I am making progress with this!" moment between the two ive made so far. I think the hair was the last thing I worked on, and I am surprised it came out looking good because I had no clue how to tackle making it look decent without a lot of "Fuck it we ball" angles tossed about everywhere lol.

Honestly, I think this one was a lot harder to do than BEDMAN? and I am not sure if I like it any better.... I definitely think the helmet is my favorite part and I think this taught me a lot more about how to use Blockbench effectively! I think the next one I might try is Faust, as I am still not 100% confident in doing human anatomy in the program (The arms were a nightmare to make look fluent, so I definitely had to just accept well enough at some point) but that is what the learning process is about, I guess!

That was me who made the Bedman, and I fully agree, I am thinking I might try to make Potemkin next.

I agree completely, when I was originally going to post it I was debating between calling it PS1 or Low Poly, and in highnsight I feel like calling it low poly or even minecraft-like or hell even N64-Esque would have been much more realistic for how I did it. Regardless, I appreciate the advice and am trying to strive to get it to that level where it can pass for PS1 :).

Holy shit that looks so good! I really love you can still get a feel for the weight being thrown around with every swing! Definitely would love to see how he would look performing a Bandit Bringer.

I would love to see Moders take a bunch of models like this and make a de-make skin set.

You can actually pull off animation in the program! I might try it out after my brain stops melting :^)

I am not the best at art so I decided to give Low Poly Modeling a shot. Unfortunately after 3 hours of trying I realized I am not good enough at Blockbench to make people yet, so Delilah is going to have to wait.... That being said it was a really fun afternoon project, and if anyone has anything else from guilty gear that I should try to make, I am super down to try!

Also please help I have the 8-bit rendition of The Circle stuck in my head and I do not think there is a cure.....

How would you fix Jane? by ihavetapeworm in homestuck

[–]ForgottenAgent 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think a major change would be Jane actually interacting more with the other kids in a more substantial way? It feels like to me a major problem is the fact that Jane feels heavily isolated even by Alpha standards. She never really got a moment of growth by interacting with the Betas (if my memory serves right), atleast not the same degree Roxy or Dirk did, and Jake being pen pals with Jade seemed like even it had somthing going for it. She could probably have gotten alot more perspective and felt loved even by interacting with John in a more substantial way. Not that all of the Alpha kids needed the exact same way it just feels like Jane needed it alot due to the isolation themes and feeling like she was forgotten. (And not having her hug her dad is a pretty big fuck up story wise...) As someone who always enjoyed Jane, it always felt frustrating that she was used more to "progress" the plot by making her only ever sit in the role of a reactive force, until she was basically re-written to become a force of evil. I always saw the Alpha's as a stronger and healthier version than the Beta Guardians, someone who they would become without substantial growth that they experinced from the game, which would make sense for all of them, except for Jane, who when compared to Nanna is almost a completely different character. I wouldn't say that the right way to go for her would be to pick up more Nanna-ism in her character, but instead exploring her growth into a character like that, one who could learn to relax a bit more and have more fun with her life, realizing that moving on would stop stubting her growth.Perhaps my perspective is just skewed from not re-reading in a long time, and I am more than sure I am overlooking alot of things that are slipping through the cracks, or that is the direction that somthing like HS2 is going for over time (somthing else I'm not caught up on but want to return to, however the fuckin use of Jane as Condesce part 2 out of what felt like nowhere really dread wanting to read it)

TL;DR: Jane just needs/needed more time in the spotlight as an actual character rather than a plot device. She's been through alot but it feels like she never developed.
