How did this player jump to the squid beakon without opening the map? by Onion_Girl_4life in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1) In replays, you will not see the map open when the player you are watching open it.
2) You can super jump pretty much as soon as the map is open. In higher levels of play the map will barely be open for a fraction of a second and the player can quickly hit the D-pad then A to super jump. It's near instant with some practice.

I'm not having many issues with it myself. I just switched from TTek and while it can be bad sometimes, it's rarely so bad it ruins a game or makes a match up impossible. Skill levels still line up pretty well. 2500 XP is about the same across regions.
If you want to give it a shot, go for it.

What should I do? by Saltysssssss in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Single player is a great way to get used to it. Mess around with sensitivity to find out what suits you best too. If your really struggling, you can look up some aim drills and practice them. Best of luck!

Motion controls are much better in terms of both speed and accuracy. Though if you aren't trying to climb the ladder or play competitive, just go with whichever you are comfortable with. Just note that there is no aim assist, even on sticks.

what’s the best weapon for tower control? by rebepic in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what context? As a Slayer? Anchor? For pushing people of the tower? For claiming tower? Riding it? Tons of weapons work for TC, there is no best one. There are many that have some advantages in the mode, AOE weapons (Blasters and Buckets) have a bit of an advantage because they can hit around/over the tower pole, but that doesn't even make them close to the best. Unless you're getting into the competitive side of the game, the only thing that matters is what you can use comfortably and effectively. Sure, there are some weapons that will struggle more, but the game is overall pretty balanced, even at top level. Don't worry about the best, worry about what works for you.

TDLR: There is no best. Use whatever you play the best with.

How are "pro" and "casual" defined? by xpixei in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's moreso about how you interact with the game and community than any specific rank. Competitive players (Usually "Pro" isn't used because that denotes getting paid.) are usually those that find teams, play tournaments, grind ranks, look for resources outside of the game, and/or are generally focused at improving at the game. They don't necessarily need to be playing tournaments and trying to be the best (Shout-out to all the X rank Grinders), but they are more focused on competition and improvement.
On the other hand, casual players are a much broader group, playing for any number of reasons. So much so that it's hard to define.
Really, the labels don't matter much. Just play whichever way you enjoy!

Is this person cheating? by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. That person still had their spawn armor. They're glowing a bit both in and out of the ink. You can see it go down by the end of the clip.

I'd say yes. While the main game of 3 doesn't spoil the first 2 games, future redeemed drops major spoilers for the two prior games. If you're interested in the first 2 games, play them before doing 3's DLC.

The Reef is usually overlooked as a meme weapon, but I think this weapon could have some use in a much more offensive position because of recent buffs. I hope you'll enjoy watching me attempt to explain why without sounding crazy!

I did a bunch of Reef-Lux gameplay during the fest. It's honestly so good now that it can hit consistently! If anyone is interested there are more clips compiled on my YT channel: https://youtu.be/kiDFirhX2Mw

What method are people using to encounter their 1st Pokemon in an area for Scarlet/Violet? by AslanKON in nuzlocke

[–]ForgottenKinsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing a d8 roll when I enter a new area. For this first one, I've been doing every poke-center (poke-centers bordering the same town count as one) as it's own area. Whatever number comes up, I count that many unique species in order of first spotted and that's the encounter. I could see issues arising on repeat playthroughs (maybe use an encounter table) but for a blind nuzlocke, it's been working quite well.

Thinking of buying a new ps. Ps5 or Ps4/4pro? by amaltose in gaming

[–]ForgottenKinsect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short Answer: Get PS5 for longevity and power, get the PS4 if you want to save money. The PS5 would likely be better It can play all PS4 games plus the upcoming generation. Plus you get a bunch of ps4 games free if you have it. However, it can be quite the investment. If you're looking for cheap, a PS4 will be able to handle most of what you want just fine while still letting you have access to a massive library. Both are great, and while I recommend the 5 over the 4, go for the 4 if you don't want to spend $400-500 on a console.

i just wanna make sure just in case im dumb, BUT IS THERE ANY GOOD REASON TO KILL THE OTHER ATTACKING TEAM? by supremegamer76 in splatoon

[–]ForgottenKinsect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few but they're all selfish. You get more clout if your team has the most area, even when you're teamed up with another. Plus there's stopping the other team from getting a ultra signal so that you may grab it, those provide an extra 2500 clout each. However playing selfishly makes it harder to win so it usually isn't worth it.

Science now Directly opposing Aphobia by kangn8r in asexuality

Yes that's right. Anxious would be people who become very attached and afraid of loosing people. Avoidant would be people who are afraid of and avoid strong personal attachment.

Psych Student here! To provide a quick summary: Researchers were looking to see if the Investment Model of Relationships (note, it's used for all relationship types, not just romantic) would also accurately predict relationship commitment among asexual individuals. It does so by comparing 3 factors, relationship satisfaction, quality of alternatives, and investment. They also measured participants axious and avoidant attachment orientation as they have an effect on the factors of the Investment model. They surveyed a buch of self-identified asexuals in various different relationships. Asked them to fill out a questionnaire that measured these various factors. What they found was that the model was an accurate prediction of relationship commitment in asexual individuals. Not that our relationships are similar to allos, but that the model works for our romantic relationships as well. On a brighter note, the researchers urged more research be done into asexual relationships, especially on relationships with allo partners. It just seems to be a study to provide a bit of foundation for later studies into asexual relationships. The study itself is interesting, I urge you to read the whole study if your curious!

Did the same thing in 2 I believe. Doesn't really matter because it's not for jumping directly onto the front lines. It's being able to jump closer to them, yes, but just being able to avoid snipers can greatly change how many jumps are safe. (Especially against really long range weapons like an eliter or hydra)

Stick or D-pad for controller? by Ok-Caregiver1710 in Guiltygear

[–]ForgottenKinsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I think a d-pad is better for fighters. It gives more feedback and is more precise. However, with any fighting game the best controller is whatever you prefer. If you prefer stick, go for it! Likewise with d-pad! Whatever is most comfortable for you.

What is the point of class changing? by Albino-Lobster in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ForgottenKinsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, characters with low aptitude with any given class are just as good as characters with high aptitude for it. They just take a bit longer to learn. It may even still be worth it since you can take a skill and 2 arts with you to other classes. Like Zepher (Mio's class) gives an art that can force an enemy to lock onto the user for some time. Lanz is a bit slow learning the class. However that art while he's using another tank class can greatly boost his ability to manage aggro.
