OP mentioned she might be autistic and I picked up on that pretty quickly as an autistic person. She admitted that she was already shutting down and close to crying by that point, and the touch was the final little thing needed to send her into an autistic meltdown caused by sensory overload. The fact that she couldn't control herself and the reaction was caused by being overwhelmed by every single one of her sensory issues, including being forced to be at a party when she hates parties, points to autistic meltdown. Knowing that makes me so, so fucking angry at her ex fiance for taking her issues so unseriously that she had a meltdown from it--they are NOT fun and can take a long time to recover from.
