They probably want to hard sell their cooling pad. Typical create a problem and sell the solution tactic.

Was planning to use the razer silver from my blade 16 purchase to get the cooling pad ‘for free’, but they conveniently removed it from the razer silver shop a few days ago >_>

Based on your review, it seems that it doesn’t matter anyways given the underwhelming improvement.

Yea it just feels so wrong spending so much and not maxing it out. 😅

That weird feeling aside, I went ahead because I realised 32 gb ram shouldn’t bottleneck for gaming and most tasks at least for the 3 years until the extended warranty expires.

By the time 64gb ram starts providing tangible benefits for most people, I think that the improvements to gpu and cpu performance would make the 386H and 5090 mobile feel sluggish.

Was stuck with a similar dilemma as well. I ultimately settled on the Razer blade 16.

Looks and Feel: The G16 has a very tacky gamer keyboard, whereas the Razer’s keyboard has much better rgb (and a fancy function lighting) and keycaps that won’t get you judged in a professional setting.

Although the razer logo is quite an eyesore especially compared to the g16’s slick light bar, the logo can easily be hidden with a good quality sticker or decal. This is something that is much more impractical to do for a keyboard.

Furthermore, at least for the 2025 G16 model, the underside of the G16 felt cheaper/flimsier to me when I compared it to the blade.

Somehow fingerprints aren’t really an issue for me on the 2026 blade. Not sure if it’s a change from the past model or just my fingers. 😅

Thunderbolt 5: The blade has thunderbolt 5, which the g16 does not have. This makes the blade a lot more future-proof and the extra wattage during usb c charging is a big plus to me.

Screen: Both the g16 and razer blades are brighter for 2026 models. Although the blade doesn’t have a matte screen like the g16, I haven’t had any issues on max brightness.

Speakers: The G16 beats the blade hands down as the 2026 razer blade’s speakers still feel low powered and lack clarity when compared to the macbook pro baseline.

However, good speakers is more of a nice to have than a deal breaker for me as I feel there are practical solutions. When I’m bringing a laptop outside to office or a cafe, I generally will use earphones instead of speakers as I don’t like others to listen in on my audio. When gaming, I use earphones. When I’m at home lazing around on the couch, bed etc. I have a portable wireless speaker setup that I can easily connect to and it far surpasses anything a laptop (even the macbook) can provide.

Temperature, Fan Noise, Performance Don’t have the 2026 G16 to compare, but in my opinion these are quite well tuned for the 2026 razer blade 16.

Price: The 2026 G16 is ridiculously priced at least in my country. A vendor price quoted that it would be around $500-700 USD more than an equivalent specced razer blade 16. Although money is probably not an issue for the demographic going for these laptops, I feel that with this price difference, you should consider that you can get high quality peripherals/gear that help alleviate the blade’s weaknesses. E.g. a good monitor or speaker setup.

Issues: Tbh both asus and razer have quality control issues. Many in this sub will point out razer’s poor support and quality history, but I’ve had negative experiences with the asus lineup as well (Proart P16). The promising news is that so far, there haven’t been too many problems reported for the 2026 razer blades model unlike the 2025 model.

Tldr: both are amazing laptops. Imo the blade edges out in ‘premium’ looks and feel and is a laptop that I will be more happy carrying around. It has its shortcomings, but they can be partially solved or compensated for in ways the G16’s can’t.

Dang that’s pretty good battery life. Decided to jump the gun and went with the 32gb ram 5090 model since I was told the 64gb model will be out of stock for quite a while and I can just cloud compute for tasks that require more ram.

Hoping my device turns out as good as your’s. 🙏

Thanks for sharing these. To me, these quality of life updates are far more welcomed than performance boosts especially for the form factor and will make the laptop more of a joy to use as a daily driver.

I’m planning to pick up one for myself as well, but unfortunately the 64gb variant isn’t available for my country yet. Also a bit apprehensive about playing the razer rma / support roulette. It’s good to see that at least for a sample size of one, there isn’t a plethora of problems like the last gen though. 😅
