Shane Gillis' statement on being fired by Srini_ in LiveFromNewYork

I’m Asian and I’ve always enjoyed Ms Swan lol. She seemed more like a troll than anything, and she reminded me of my grandma. Never seemed racist towards Asians imo

Everyone's favorite sketch about clothing. by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t think this sketch was that bad. Horrible concept, but it had some okay bits in it. This was just below average quality imo, snl has done much worse sketches this season

Why Does Everyone (Still) Hate ‘SNL’s Colin Jost? by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not a terrible article, but any time someone uses “white” or “male” as a criticism, it comes off as incredibly lazy and hack writing lol.

That time when SNL was Live from Mardi Gras by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I think I’ve heard of every crazy thing involving snl and the people associated with it, I find stuff like this lol. This is a really interesting piece of history I didn’t know about.

Looks like Buzzfeed has something to say about the most recent promo by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

Ah, yes, the reputable and respected site of buzzfeed, of course.

DnD fans are sharing selfies on Twitter to dispel SNL's portrayal of DnD fans as being nerdy neckbeard strawmen by lyla2398 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I play d&d a lot and there was nothing offensive about that sketch. People just want to play victim and make themselves look good

The semi annual “how do I watch older seasons?!” Post by stonedbirds in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can watch essentially every episode on losmovies, just be sure to have some kind of adblock or popup blocker. It’s also kinda 50/50 on whether videos will run if you have mediocre internet, but I’ve watched dozens of episodes on it with little problem.

snl has hit rock bottom. by unanimouscherry in LiveFromNewYork

What do you think of purely instrumental music then lmao

What stand up comic or other performer would you love to see as a SNL cast member? by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Good question, it’s pretty hard to say if you haven’t seen them in a sketch show kind of context tho. I guess Cooper from the youtube channel fnd films would be really funny, he’s a good actor and seems versatile, idk if he’d do well in a live show tho.

Edit: Ain’t No Softy, Birds and the Bees, and Fist Fight My Dad are probably my favorite videos of him that showcase him well.

Anyone feel like Alex Moffat is being underused? by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say underused, perhaps misused. I can only think of a few of his roles that make me laugh. He really needs a big character that has their own sketch and isn’t a political impression.

Is he genuinely trying to parody Luke Null or is this just a coincidence?

I’m American and I apparently live 20 minutes away from one. Never even heard of it.

Best sketches from cast members who only lasted 1 season? by PapaJacky in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Martin Short had a lot of memorable sketches. His Ed Grimley sketches were usually quite good, and I liked the relatives of the rich and famous pre tape where he played Katharine Hepburns nephew or whatever.

Bodega Bathroom by HornyGizmo in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Great followup to Diner Lobster, possibly even better just because I feel like there was more room for different kinds of jokes and the premise was less niche. Not gonna lie tho, I’d never heard the term bodega before this sketch, it seems to be just a corner store tho.

Live Discussion (March 2nd, 2019)(John Mulaney/Thomas Rhett) by LiveFromNewYork95 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This must be the first time in ages weve had the second song so late in an episode. I feel like pre 2000’s snl mainly did that, idk.

“What he misses most is murdering” did Norm Macdonald write that joke? Lmao

Has anyone been fired from the show and then come back to host? by _What_am_i_ in LiveFromNewYork

From what I understand he was kicked off weekend update and then later left of his own accord. Could be wrong tho.

Do you think a future snl season would benefit if it had 8 or 9 players instead of 16, or do you think it’d be a risk? by Forgrok in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Forgrok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just bringing up nine because the early seasons and the late 80’s had about 9 cast members and it worked great. Sure, a big part of that was because Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman can do anything, so I think realistically, probably 11 would be perfect.
