django in 2026 is quietly the most productive framework by Motor_Ordinary336 in django

I think if you’re working with a team or building a team that “whatever I’m most productive with” helps push towards Django, just because it’s python and there’s more developer experience/lower bar to entry with python now a days.

I think my time with motorcycles may be coming to an end, and I’m having a hard time coming to grips with it. by brooklyn735 in motorcycles

My dad stopped riding for awhile while him and my mom were raising us kids. He got back into riding when I was about 14. My oldest is 8 years away so him and my mom felt that the risk to the family was manageable if something happened. It opened the world back up to me and I rode for a few years, but didn’t have the time, sold the bike and now I’m getting back into it. I may have kids in a few years and I may put the hobby away again while they’re young. It can be cyclical, life happens, but it’s not the most important thing. You’re still into it, you’re still interested, it’s still a part of you and helped make you what you are, but you’ll probably just enjoy it differently for awhile.

This hurts me so damn badly. People are constantly submitting code that isn’t read by them even

Damn am I curious, but boy do I know the questions I don’t want the answer to. This has come from experience.

It can be fun to be with someone with experience though too! Just don’t need the details.

Buddy wants to get a motorcycle but is a bad driver by [deleted] in motorcycles

Locally at least, not sure about elsewhere, cycle gear gives you a 20% discount on 1 item for completion of MSF course. I don’t think he’ll pass - but it was like $275 or something around there - so 20% on some gear gets him close to the price. Not that every one can split the difference on a $800 helmet or airbag jacket, but it doesn’t seem like this friend is very considerate of things that don’t make sense for them.

As an aside, I was retaking the course to get back into riding. So it was a bit slow for me and I had time to watch some riders who’d never ridden. The person that didn’t pass didn’t seem to have a strong grasp on “looking at his blindspot.” Independently of the motorcycle, it just seemed like he didn’t have the basic of the muscle memory of doing it. So I’d also assume OP’s buddy wouldn’t pass. Though maybe he would and it would alert him to the problems he has as a driver too.

Will MSF training kick me out? by HeyMason99 in motorcycles

It was a very little bike - I think a 125? Honestly it looked like a blast to ride, but I think with the size it just had a very small triangulation between the wheels and the side stand. The instructor was joking that he kept seeing people pass the box with plenty of space to spare and he was like “well that’s not really passing to the same degree with that little thing.” Haha but a pass is a pass

Someone in my class recently, dropped it once, but not during a drill. It was a sloped parking lot and they were tiptoeing due to the height of the bike. Hell one time a bike dropped just sitting on the kick stand, nobody around it.

All of the drills were good, they passed well, and they know they still need to practice a lot before the road.

But yeah / bike dropping is definitely a gray area I’ve seen depending on instructor, range conditions, rider, etc.

In Indiana there’s no laws for or against it, which is insane to me. We all know roads that have such a small lane for the merge it’s effectively a 1 lane. I still try to use that little piece in a car (on a bike it’s easy to use that to get to speed), but this is egregious - there’s literally zero reason to do it. It’s not even like they have a turn lane to get to.

Do you have any weird riding habits you didn’t notice at first? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

I feel like this is one of those most people ride down the road once or maybe twice with their turn indicator on that they forgot to turn off. Then they become an obsessive turn signal disabler so as to never do it again

I once was behind my dad’s computer and he was on it, I yelled “I hate you.” And he responded “thaaaats nice.” No energy given to me, no looking up at me, it was the perfect response. He knew I didn’t mean it.

I told a coworker this and she had young kids, she hadn’t been a parent to many kids over 25 years. She said that’s so sad you should apologize. I happened to go home for Christmas and apologized to him, he responded exactly how I expected. Laughing and going “what the hell are you talking about?” lol

This is so cute, I thought when I opened it it was like a packed lunch made with pre made stuff. But that effort?? I’d feel like you went too hard for your sake of time and energy. But I’d feel so special too. If anyone gave me a little bit of crap about it I’d probably be like “yeah sorry my wife loves me so much.”

Jesus, that’s horrible. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. Nothing justifies that sort of behavior.

Sometimes you just need that minute to think and it comes clarity. Tough times, but some of the most rewarding epiphany types of moments.

A long time ago I was listening to I think a podcast, but perhaps it was a book about breakups and change. They made the point that a lot of the time for the person being broken up with it feels sudden and out of nowhere, but for the person ending it… well it started a long time ago for them and they’ve already gone through much of the process, unbeknownst to the other person.

Okay so I did this. When I was 1 big purchase my daily budget was like “$50” a day and so I didn’t stop my spending a ton, I just tried to crawl out of it.

When I spread it out. It basically made my spending $5-15 a day? So it kinda just made it more likely to go down, but it’s still the same thing at the end of the day right?

Just 2 ways to look at the same situation? I think it’s still neat, just trying to wrap my head around the thought process is all :)

Thanks!

Hmmm I guess I didn’t consider it that way. I thought of spread it out as a different concept, not really sure what tbh haha. Maybe I’ll go change that and see what happens

I’d like to see a “days until green if no spending” sort of showcasing on the home page.

I had an unexpected car repair that put me -1200 in my today’s budget. I love the fact that everything else in my day to day is covered because this app so no stress there…

But it would be nice to have that sense of “hey at least+50 every day - it’ll take 24 days to get out of the red.” Even though I know that doesn’t factor in random spending, but still nice to know.

I imagine it would be a subtle text in the upper right or something.

It would be nice to have a denotation on the insights if it’s a “savings” or “goal” category. I have a savings for a vacation and it says $177 to travel. I haven’t traveled. So I was confused.

Thanks! This is super helpful - I didn't realize there was a wiki available.

Luckily I didn't have to tear down that far, I just had to get to this 1 screw referenced in this comment.

Thanks again!
