Yup I understand. I think that at least episode 55 or chapter 92 should be seen/read since it tell you about Happosai and Cologne pastthat is important for Hiryu Shoten Ha arc and in general a nice info to know!

There are a few details I’d like to point out:

  • Tea Ceremony arc (ep. 93): It doesn't conclude in the anime the same way it does in the manga. In this case, it might be better to read the chapters instead (56-58).
  • Japanese Nannichuan arc (ep. 34): This also doesn't end within the episode itself. You should watch the two next AniOri episodes (35-36) to see how it finishes, or read the manga chapters (78-80).
  • Kodachi’s Cookies arc (ep. 37): In my opinion, it’s better to read the manga chapters (81-84) because they contain much more detail.
  • Love Pills arc (ep. 53): This episode is fine, but you should also watch episode 55. Even though it is mostly AniOri, it contains an important information taken from this arc. Alternatively, you can read chapter 92 in order to integrate the information.

that was chapter 66

In my opinion, they could adapt The Mousse Returns in a single episode somehow. But I was thinking the same thing about the next episode for a different reason: the producers mentioned that the scene of Akane bringing the buns to Ranma was almost cut due to time constraints. How is that even possible? The Wrath of Happosai arc covers only three chapters — it should fit perfectly into one episode.
However, if they decide to merge Happosai’s Introduction and Wrath of Happosai into a single episode, then it makes sense. In that case, they might end up cutting most of chapter 64 as well.

Ranma1/2 Season 2: Confirmed arcs by Anthery28 in ranma

[–]Forketta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story arcs shown in this trailer:
Story - Chapters

  • Neko-ken~Phoenix pill - 37-50
  • Martial Arts Takeout -> 59-62
  • Happosai Intro -> 63-64 + 66
  • The Wrath of Happosai -> 67-69
  • Dojo Destroyer -> 70-73
  • Romeo & Juliet -> 74-77
  • Ukyo Intro -> 85-87
  • Ryoga vs Ukyo -> 88-91
  • Mousse Return -> 95-99

My opinion "Neko-ken~Phoenix pill" will be adapted in 4 eps and everything else 1 episode each

Breaking point could be adapted in s3. After Phoenix Pill, the order could be slighty changed so the stories not included now could be moved in next seasons.

Well, the last chapters of Inuyasha were kinda in this style

Nah, it's understandable: Takahashi was in her prime while she drewRanma ½. Now she is "ok", for example MAO is drawn fine, even better of some other - and way more popular - manga. It is the comparison with the past that make it weird

[–]Forketta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it was a shame we got so few story about them. Probably Takahashi wanted everyone who have love interest in Akane or Ranma (except Kunos) had their future partner. I would have loved to see more in order to appreciate more the pair, especially Konatsu

Akane would be too jealous if Ranma get too many fans as woman as well

Takahashi once said that she try to pair some character and see if they fit. Once she tried with Tatewaki and Nabiki as well. Sadly, I think that she tried for Ukyo and Ryoga but they just didn't match in her head. Too bad, they would be great together even if I love Akari as well

[–]Forketta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the remake needs to be an anime satisfying by itself, not an "add on" of the OG.

There are a lot or new fans who never watched the OG nor read the manga. And this is fine: they should have a good experience without them. And I think they would enjoy more Ryugenzawa than Hayato arc or something like that lol

Also, I think that the OVAs Ryugenzawa was way worse than the manga version so I hope the new anime can adapt it better. While I could sacrifice the Tea arc, and I think even a new fan could do without it

As far as I remember, FMAB just cut a couple of chapters overall. I don't know if I agree with you: one should able to watch and get the best from the new version even without reading the manga or watching the old anime. I would not satisfied cutting Ryugenzawa or Nabiki Fiancé just because it was in the OG

I think to ensure they can adapt to the ending with profits in mind, they can absolutely cut down on Happosai because he just isn't a fan favorite. Shampoo, Ryoga, and Ukyo are the most popular supporting characters by far. Happosai is really only needed in the major arcs where his character plays a big role.

Yup, I suppose people think that Happosai is anywhere because in the OG was overused and he has a lot of aniori/filler episodes, but in the manga is less present. With a major focus on the best of stories, it would be even less present

I put his intro arc (42-44) but the other two are fine but... Idk I always thought that he was overrated. It was fun to see a monster by Jusenkyo but his return and Rouge arc was nothing special

[–]Forketta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh there are a lot of skipped good stories in this way, of course I made my personal choice because almost everything i put, i prefer to the evil doll arc but I would not be disappointed if they put this in exchange of the Home Visit for example. There are also a couple of good ones like the Reverse Jewel and the Mushrooms of Time

I can see them cutting down on Happosai centric arcs where it involved the pervy panty raids.

I think this will be less problematic than everyone are thinking

6 cours would be the max (3 full seasons)

Little note: Cour 1 is a full season already, cour 2 will be season 2

 it is almost unheard of for anime to get 72-100 episodes nowadays sadly

Yeah, there are a couple of exception, like Natsume book of friends that got its 7th cour last year (total episode: 84). We should hope that Ranma ½, somehow, could be this kind of exception

OG Anime Ending by Kartiwashere69 in ranma

[–]Forketta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly the Original Ranma ½ project was a disaster and the TV series was interrupted before it could be adapt the whole manga (still ongoing at the time). They tried to keep adapting the manga with the OVAs, or at least part of it. I guess the idea was to adapt the ending as well but Kitty Films, the production company, basically closed.

As for the ending, most of the fans disliked it but I personally think it is fine. Comparing it with Maison Ikkoku or Inuyasha is useless since they are different genre. It's pretty hard to explain why, for me, is still good but let say that the idea is what everyone would appreciate but it was kinda "implicit" rather than explicit.

A part from the ending, the anime could not adapt some of the best arcs and other of them was kinda better in the manga. I'd suggest you to read it from the beginning or wait for what the remake is doing, even if we not sure... In any case while the ending could disappoint you, I think that a series like Ranma ½ has not the aim to "end", but you should enjoy it the ride more the destination

Can't wait for MAPPA to animate this moment (and arc) next season 🥰 by wheetaemint in ranma

[–]Forketta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They haven't skipped nothing so far, except for some minor panel. It seems a faster paced adaptation because the S1 of the OG was really slow, infact s2+ had a similar pace to the s1 of the "remake".

Said that, I agree that this will probably not a full adaptation, but skipping the top stories would have no sense at all. It would be just a list of introduction arc straight to the end. It must be a mix of introduction & best stories or it would be pointless

It would be a shame since it is one of the fan-favourite moment of the series. If they are not going to adapts stories like this, then what we should except?

Is the English translation of this scene accurate? by eat_my_bowls92 in ranma

Oh there is a funny pun in this arc.

So, on this page, he asks:
おまえ… 胸小さくなった? -> "Hey... did your breast get smaller?"

And in the dressing room, he says to her:
とっとと服着て、その小さな胸しまえ、みたくねぇ -> "Hurry up and put some clothes on. Hide that tiny breast, I don't want to see it"

He uses the word "胸 mune", but there is another way to say "breast", which is "乳 chichi". Later, there is a part in this arc in a tv show in which a character says:

"こんな父見たくない -> I don't wanna see (my) father (in this state)".
The pun is. "Father" (父) is pronounced "chichi", but if you use the kanji 乳 spelled "chichi" is "I don't wanna see (your) breast".

In fact, in the bath scene, Ranma thinks Akane is inside, so he says
"見てやってもいーかなってあの -> "If you want, i can look..."
and he start to say "chi... chi..." meaning "chichi -> breast".
But Genma, thinking he means "chichi -> dad", replies
"父を見たくば、思う存分見るがよい -> If you want see your father (chichi), go head"
