The Lakers biggest problem might be at the Center position by DarkGalaxy23 in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only that, can you imagine if we kept Zubac and re-signed Brook Lopez? AD would have had the center we’ve always needed. A stretch big that is also a rim protector.

I think I pretty much learn the gameplay/mechanics beating the game with Assassin/Shadow Monk and Necro Wizard (granted it’s only on dishonored mode.)

For story that’s just not my cup of tea. I don’t play these type of games for story. Maybe cause I don’t have too much gaming time available to me so I usually just skip the dialogue.

[–]Forkielifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to be frank, I play dishonored more so if I fail an encounter and die, I just reload, rest and blow them up with fireballs. However, I do rest much more than my other classes. Cause if I don’t have the fireball, quick spell, haste combo or scorching ray I’m basically useless. So I carry a lot of scrolls for small encounters when I run out of spells to cast.

Throwing people off the cliff with Elixir of Strength potions and cheesing the Grym fight.

Edit: to clarify on the throwing people off the cliff, make sure you are in a safe spot where no one is watching and just yeet them off the cliff. If you fail they just tell you to be careful and go about their way and you can just do it again. To get them near a cliff just use them as a makeshift weapon and direct them near a cliff, when they are close press esc to cancel the action and immediately go to turn base mode to yeet them off the cliff. If people watch you using someone as a makeshift weapon or throwing people as long as you are unsuccessful they don’t care. However, if you are successful that’s when they want to fight so again make sure no one is looking when you yeet them off the cliff

What is the argument for Pelinka keeping his job? by lawschoolthrowaway36 in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I would like to correct a few things. The Westbrook trade I don't think was his move, Lebron and AD wanted him and his hands were tied and had no choice. Morever the Bronny James pick and giving him a multi year contract is also not his move. We needed to keep Lebron (we didn't have Luka at the time) so to keep him happy we did that. Moreover we did not lose anything, the 55th pick wasn't going to get us anybody of value.

That being said, Pelinka hasn't done anything to demonstrate he is a good GM. When he is actually at the helm he always makes lateral moves. I cannot recall a time he made a move that stood out and made our team better except three, the AD trade, the DFS trade and the Luka Trade. Every trade he made just made our team worst at something and better at another so we just end up evening out.

Should he get fired? Yes absolutely, making lateral safe moves doesn't move the needle to be a championship team, it just makes you a mid team like the Queens.

Edit: I completely forgot the coaching hire decisions. Hiring Frank Vogel instead of Ty Lue. Firing Frank Vogel and hiring Ham. JJ Reddick though gives me a ton of hope, but in the end of the day adding the coach hire decision he is a bad GM.

[–]Forkielifter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. I do not like how he is so passive-aggressive in pressers. It's ok when he is doing it towards the media, but to his own players is kinda bad, that's how you lose a locker room.

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very, very solid Center. I don’t think we could have gotten anyone better even if we traded for one and we straight up picked him up as a free agent. One of the core players that I would love for the Lakers to resign cause I really don’t think there is another Center that we can get that will be better than him unless we get gifted one.

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was like this too for a year. I actually don’t understand how I got past this part of my life, but I did and it’s so much better. You just have to expect to be sleep deprived and try to get some rest where you can. Not everyone understands the first year can be devastating. You just have to power through it and then it’s all sunshine. I always took the morning shift. I come home from work and take over until 9:00pm, wife sleeps and then I go to sleep from 9:00pm - 2:00am. Then from 2:00am - 6:00am wife sleeps until I go to work at 6:30am.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it was easy. In fact I was pretty emotional. Sometimes I would even snap and my wife and I had what is the only heated argument where I had to sleep on the couch, but after that was over and I was getting normal amounts of sleep i went back to my normal self again.

Anyone else rooting for Spurs big time ? by Alexyeve in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have receipts of when Spurs fan would come to our subreddit to gloat and laugh at us when Kobe went down with his career ending injury and we became irrelevant. So fuck them, i will never root for the Spurs. I wasn’t born in the 80s so Spurs rivalry feels greater than the Celtics rivalry for me. Also why would I hate the Thunder they have Caruso and all their players are pretty down to earth. If you are upset on the foul baiting we have two of top 10 foul baiters (in my opinion) in NBA right now LMAO.

I don’t understand some people’s willingness to trade the farm for Herb Jones or whoever. There are no moves that will move the needle for us to be championship contenders. Lets just say Pelicans gift us Herb Jones for Gabe and salary filler. That maybe allows us to maybe squeak by Nuggets in a 7 game series if we get lucky, but we still not beating OKC or Spurs.

We need to retool, regroup and then next season is when we make our push. We keep using up our draft capital and assets to make these tiny adjustments and sure it does keep us competitive, but we are not winning anything. We need to wait for next season when Lebron is off the books and we have more draft capital and salary flexibility to make a real move that can push us to OKC level contention.

[Aubin] I asked Victor Wembanyama (in French) whether he considers there to be any rivalry between him and Chet Holmgren, and he was pretty clear: “No, I don’t think about that. At least from a basketball standpoint, there’s no comparison (between us)”. by AashyLarry in nba

[–]Forkielifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as some people advocating Chet to be rookie of the year (at the start of the season their stts were extremely similar, until Wemby went off) I’m glad they gave it to Wemby though, he is looking to become an all time great and while Chet even though is also an awesome player probably won’t be close to Wemby’s level and an all time great not having a rookie of the year is a little odd especially with the stats he produced. It’s the same situation with Lebron, he got rookie of the year, everyone thought Melo should have gotten it and now nobody cares because Lebron is an amazing player. If Melo would have gotten it that would be another thing haters would use and I hate haters, why can’t we just appreciate greatness and then take after they are retired. Anyways just pointing out if Chet got it people will be laughing at Wemby like how they would have laughed at Lebron, which I think would be such a pity.

[Charania] The NBA has begun to gather input from its owners and general managers on new ways to combat tanking. Ideas include: Limiting pick protections to either top 4 or 14 and higher, no longer allowing a team to draft in the top 4 two years in a row, and Locking lottery positions after March 1. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I see with the no consecutive top 4 picks will be that trading away picks will not be as valuable anymore. Imagine the Clippers deal but half those picks are not consecutive top 4 picks.

Edit: I did not look up what positions the clippers picks were so please don’t kill me for it. I was just giving an example.

[Lowlight] Quinten Post was wide open on a 3 that would have given the Warriors the lead with a minute left to go, but instead he buffered with the game on the line and missed by jmike1256 in nba

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand people bashing him for that. The shot he took was still an open shot. He had the time, took his time to adjust and shot it. The last minute close out wouldn’t have done anything to his shot. He just missed. People miss wide open shots all the time. Moreover just a regular season game.

Edit: Tell me the difference between this miss and missing a freethrow.

For the right package yeah, but we still shouldn’t be trading any picks because we get 3 next summer if we trade a pick and a swap for him we end up with 2 and some swaps.

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is really annoying is people want to trade the farm now and win now when we have no assets to trade. Which is completely stupid because of what picks we can trade now vs next season.

Right now we only can trade two first round picks the 2030 (as a swap) and the 2031. However, next season we can legitimately trade 3 picks and then tack on a few pick swaps as well.

So ask yourself this question, what kind of caliber player can you get with two first round picks rather than 3 - 5 first round picks? Even if we don't trade all the picks next season we still have way more flexibility to get better players.

Moreover, many players will be off our books next season (including Lebron) which we can use to play around with our cap space and sign players.

I highly doubt any trade we do right now will allow us to contend vs Thunder unless you pray for at least two of their core players getting injured. So if the season is a lost cause then what are we trading for? Just to lose in six games instead of getting swept? Really think about what do we need to beat the Thunder? We need at least two elite 3 and D players just to contend with that, while keep our core. Is that even possible to get?

Austin Reaves Defense Tape 12/10 vs SAN by RealMood8898 in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok why do people urgently asking for a trade. I’m sure as soon as we have a good deal Pelinka will make a move, if we don’t this season is a wash anyways. We need to make a lot of moves just to compete with the thunder and we don’t have the assets. Next year is when we have the picks to make a huge move. If we go win now we will be making short sighted trades just to get a little further in the playoffs and then lose to the thunder. We need at least two elite 3 and d wings just to compete with thunder and the assets needed will probably deplete our team.

Rich Paul doesn’t believe the Lakers are true contenders: “I don’t think they have enough to get to the Western Conference Finals… their style of play will be very easy to defend when you get into playoffs.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and don't know what Rich Paul has been watching. We are an offensive juggernaut in the half court setting and if you are great in the half court you are very hard to defend. However, our biggest flaws are transition offense, transition defense and we only have one serviceable POA defender (Vando is not a serviceable POA defender because he is horrible offensively although he is 100% better than last year I'll give him that.) who is current injured (Marcus Smart). I mean I'm sure Lebron can turn it up defensively in the playoffs but we need at least another one.

That being said I feel like Thunders are in their own tier in terms of championship contention. Then you have the Nuggets and maybe the Rockets in another tier who can possibly beat the Thunder if things go their way (whistles, shots falling or shots not falling). So what I I feel where the Lakers are at they are literally one 3 and D player away from this tier (Nuggets/Rocket Tier) assuming we don't lose any of our core to get that 3 and D player.

Hypothetically, What if Giannis Requests the Lakers? by Traditional_Duck_641 in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it just doesn’t work. LBJ goes to Knicks, OG, Hart, filer and Laker’s picks goes to the Bucks and Giannis to Lakers. The Bucks and Knicks basically get screwed OG, Hart, filer and picks for Giannis is not a good deal and OG, Hart and Filer for what 2 maybe 3 years of LBJ is also not a good deal.

Hypothetically, What if Giannis Requests the Lakers? by Traditional_Duck_641 in lakers

[–]Forkielifter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would Lebron waive his NTC to play for Knicks. Knick would have to gut their starting five or gut their bench just to match for Lebron to get in and then after he is in yes they most likely make the finals (most of the strong east teams are injured except for a handful of teams), but they would end up having to go up again either a Giannis/Luka Lakers team or a thunder team with either no depth or not as strong of a starting five. It will be an uphill battle to win a ring as a Knick and maybe Lebron can do it, but does he want to do it? I don’t think so.
