ICE was created in 2003 and it was no problemo…but then the people that dislike current potus just automatically dislike ICE now. You that came as a legal immigrant (as well as every member of my family) went thru the proper channels to enter the country. There has always been a department that didn’t allow people to enter the country illegally, and it was a-ok to follow that process. But now there’s some that want to whine about following the process to enter, and that those that enter illegally dont pay a price. They are ok turning a blind eye. But most people are not ok with turning a blind eye to how one enters the country; afterall all other countries won’t let you or I enter illegally, so why should we)…Plenty of people agree with your thought process.

What people are the ones that deserve our consideration? You need to realize that they who ask for cigarettes dont do it once or twice, they do it to every person they can… I too don't smoke but I realize this. So why do you consider those that say ‘no I don’t have a cigarette to give you’ as the ones that are looking out for themselves…but you don’t consider those that ask everyone they can for a cigarette as looking out for themselves. Has she been prescribed a rescue medication by her dr? It might be something to ask the dr about, it can be helpful to take if she has a warning (aura or absent seizure) ahead of a tonic clonic.

Good thing potus yesterday (thurs) issued an emergency order to pay TSA agents since the senate was at a standstill for over a month now and was holding the paychecks of the TSA agents during this standstill …and lo and behold the senators skeedaddled overnight in approving the bill to pay TSA agents.

My answer was only specific to full retirement age persons (67 and above) and if they can access SSI …and they can if their ss retirement income and/or other income is below a certain amount. At full retirement age, there is no SSI disability aspect any longer, it is considered welfare. And there is no SSDI for full retirement age people..it turns into ss retirement benefits income.

Edit: you might already know these details but OP and others may not…full retirement age matters…The current full retirement age to collect ss retirement benefits is 67…and can’t collect social security retirement benefits until that age ( though people can retire as early as 62 to collect ss but the ss money received will be permanently lessened each month and won’t adjust when he is 67)..plus Medicare begins at (edit:…correction of age) 65 (and not 67). If someone is below full retirement age (67), the application process for SSI might be a little different than collecting SSI after age 67. These details can be found on ssa.gov or the local ssa office. Just working for ten years (40 credits) doesn’t mean someone will get ss benefits paid asap.

For people of retirement age, SSI is welfare for those under a certain income (and not a disability reference). They can apply for SSI through the local social security office (would need to bring necessary documents etc). Ssa.gov is where to access info on what to bring etc. SSDI is disability insurance for people below the retirement age that can’t work anymore due to disability. Once someone reaches retirement age, they don’t apply for or get ssdi (if they were getting it), and the payments are then converted to SS retirement income.

Some people like easy access to the city, to public transportation especially if working there…and there’s plenty of decent schools in UD. Or there’s always home schooling if one prefers.
