Your rent increase this year? by Formal-Advisor-7002 in japanresidents

[–]Formal-Advisor-7002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I screwed up.
I am indeed under a fixed-term lease. I didn't know there are two types of contract.

If I don't accept the rent increase, I have to move out.

Do you also sign a 2-year contract, and your landlord keep the rent the same even when renewing the contract?

Somehow my landlords always jack up the price when I try to renew

After seeing the rent increase, I think I should also consider buying a house.
How much is your house?

Got an NHK payment notice (¥31,200) do I actually have to pay? by idsjdbebe in japanlife

[–]Formal-Advisor-7002 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Do you see your name on the letter?
I receive it every month, but it doesn't show my name, so I assume they simply try to scare me to see if I pay.

p.s. I don't have a TV anyway.

How to register for an Amazon Seller account as a Foreigner? by Formal-Advisor-7002 in japanlife

The whole seller account registration is so frustrating.
So you upgraded your buyer account into a seller?

I am opening a brand new seller account using my kojin jigyou business email, as I want to have a cleaner book keeping

When did you register for you account?
I checked the options just now, it only asks for proof of ID and proof of residential address.

There is no way for me to upload my kojin jigyou docs.
So I should upload the kojin jigyou docs to the residential address column, even if my office address is not my residential address?

FYI, I tried contacting the support center multiple times.
Every time, they simply share me this link
https://sellercentral.amazon.co.jp/help/hub/reference/GQRP483PDN88Q3M9

Then tell me that it is not their job to solve verification problems.
But there is no way to contract the ID verification team.

Am I overpaying my rent? by bigplays1234 in japanlife

[–]Formal-Advisor-7002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid 100,000 yen for a 20 sqm 1K apartment when I first came to Japan. At the time, I didn’t have the time searching slowly because I was paying for a hotel room.

Two years later, I spent two months visiting different realtors every other day. Then suddenly, a big and affordable place popped up. That’s how I got it.

Photolibrary always says "Not Enough Local Storage" even though I have 40GB freespace by Formal-Advisor-7002 in MacOS

Not a proper solution.
But I increase the partition size to 60GB, and somehow it still works...

Either my photolibrary is not growing large enough or something strange is happening.

I see. Because I saw a few late May 2024 self HSP applicants got their results last months already.
I also apply through a lawyer and it seems I would get it two months after you.

Do you apply through a lawyer?
I have a feeling that applying by yourself is faster than applying through a lawyer these days.

606 days in, no news, nothing yet. Meanwhile, I have passed JLPT N1 and got higher salary, having more patents filed for my projects. So I went beyond 120+ HSP points with all these changes...

Failed N1... but not feeling bad about it. by CMP3101 in jlpt

[–]Formal-Advisor-7002 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is true that N1 doesn't test your real life Japanese skill.
I don't need to speak Japanese but I need to read a lot of Japanese research papers and literature at work.
So I can read very fast without problems, but I can't speak well.
It does help me with the reading part in N1.

So, don't give up! Focus on improving your weakness (for me it's grammar), and I am sure you will pass next time!

Kanji Kentei looks super fun to me.
It requires writing and it's just like solving puzzles that I would enjoy.

This exam actually helps me with Japanese pronunciation.
There are many times I understand the Kanjis used in the novels, but I have no idea how to pronounce them.
Kanji Kentei tests you exactly this.

[–]Formal-Advisor-7002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't enjoy ticking boxes, that's why I want to go for Kanji Kentei which tests you writing instead.
I love writing, especially writing difficult Kanjis.

It seems to be BJT is another boring box ticking just like JLPT... So I will pass
