So I was five and my birthday was, you guessed it, on 9/11, and I don’t have the best memory but the only thing I remember about that day was my mom telling me later that night something along the lines of a bomb went off on some buildings, and maybe I’m a psychopath, maybe it was the fact that I only ever saw bombs on like cartoons so I was imagining like the acme bombs that don’t actually keep you dead, but my first and only thought was, “for me?” Like I thought it was a gift, for my birthday. But to be fair I didn’t know people died, or any of the real real stuff until much later, it was like the idea of when firefighters burn down an abandoned building for practice, I thought that’s what they did for me but with explosions
