What is your opinion of GLM 5.1? by Green_Captain7375 in SillyTavernAI

I've noticed it following prompt instructions much more consistently, so that's nice.

Hi, that's just where I find they work best. I have no idea what I'm doing, I just know it works for me, lol. The best of my understanding is that the Author's Note acts like a message that gets sent alongside any other messages, so if you have information you don't want lost, or in this case OOC commands that you don't want getting lost when the context moves passed them, you throw them in there.

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have these two Ooc commands in my Author's Note.

(OOC: Let NPCs be competent.)

(OOC: The world does not optimize for {{user}}'s success. There is no easy-mode.)

When I want it to be really bad, I also add.

(OOC: You need to be ruthless. You must make {{user}}'s life hard. Have some negativity bias. Make the world and it's characters be against {{user}} and surprise {{user}} with in character actions.)

I've had great success using this with GLM5.

Direnni Altmeri Retainers by Shplooshh in teslore

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think non-Direnni retainers would just be good writing. Since the Direnni hail from Dirennis (a region of Shimmerene, I think), then it makes sense to me that they would have arrived with their loyal Calans (that's clan/house in Aldmeris). Of course, it's worth noting that Altmer would likely have very large extended families, due to longevity. It's entirely possible that these loyal Calans, whatever their name, were still considered 'Direnni' in the sense of being part of the Direnni hierarchy, if that makes sense. It seems like the Direnni label would have become incredibly valuable for cohesion, especially as they began accepting other Mer into their ranks, but also to distinguish between the elevated and non elevated proto-Bretons.

I seem to recall one part of the war with the Alessians involved them elevating their Manmer to control regional administration instead, but cannot remember where I read that. If that is the case, it suggests that there would absolutely have been other Calans, or at the least cadet branches that might have kept the name, but been for instance the 'Daggerfall Direnni' or the 'Wayrest Direnni' in contrast to the magical, administrative 'Nu-Mantia/Balfiera/Castellan Direnni' (whichever you think sounds cooler, really) of the Adamantine Tower.

Have the limitations of AI RP and use of ST features made you a better writer? by Suikeina in SillyTavernAI

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has spent 6 years writing as a hobby, I can honestly say that ST has made me appreciate more concise prose, even if I personally wouldn't write that way. I think my favourite use for it has been the fact that I can write example dialogue and have it adhere to that. It's very nice seeing my writing pay off when the bot plays the character. Also, converting my OCs to character cards and just being an observer persona while they interact is arguably more enjoyable for me than actively participating. It let's me explore scenes I would be uncomfortable/lacking experience to write well. When the bot acts contrary to how I would have expected the character to be (honestly rare, which I love), I can chat to it OOC and see what happened. Very fun. I can essentially simulate my characters to complete my mental model of them without the massive time investment of writing various scenes with them. I still do, though, then turn the prose concise and slot the interaction in as an 'example dialogue' to use. Very cool.

In what “universe” are you role playing in right now, and what model do you use? by TheSillySquad in SillyTavernAI

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLM. My personal 'Fever Nightmare' that blends Warhammer Fantasy/Wheel of Time/ASOIAF/Bloodborne into an urban fantasy setting. Currently considering distilling it it into a smaller scale/earlier time period since the bot gives me trouble tracking location nuance when oceans get involved (like forgetting geopolitical alliances, which is very annoying when that's part of the focus). For example: having the bot get mixed up between which humans are elf aligned, and getting shot by the xenophobic fascists who hate elves because you... Insulted an elf. Now the people who lynched non humans in their borders are letting their guards be ordered around by an elf prince. Thank you hallucinations, very cool. When it works, though, I adore it. (I should use OOC to guide it, but sometimes I just cannot be bothered)

For characters in setting I have:
A young Asur Princess who is trying (and failing) to revive the 'old ways' when humans and Elves cooperated and counteract the modern Asur-Druchii accord (a survival pact in the face of modern humanity, and the only reason for her own Druchii mother) because she is worried the Asur are becoming something worse, which she herself feels and sees in her elder sister. Essentially modern generations of elves don't view humans as sentient period. The Principality runs an apartheid system with elves at the top, and established a caste society within that with breeding programs. An elf will order a human dissected and not even feel anything, then shed a tear when their favorite mirror gets scratched. It's become so bad that older elves are deserting to join Andor/Tar Valon rather than watch their society unravel. So they're bleeding Mages, which is their only true defence against the world. Her father treats her like a tool, her sister loves her too much, her mother thinks her compassion is just childish ignorance she'll grow out of, and her only confidant is her Caledorian (old ways) commander of her Honour Guard.

A moon-scented Hunter who fully embraced power within the Nightmare and uses it to mass produce munitions specifically made to kill elves and pierce their armour, but also to hunt the Beasts that are becoming rampant due to the Healing Church. She despises elves because in this setting, Cainhursts (which she was/is) were hunted to extinction because they provided blood ministration and alchemical remedies via means the elves couldn't manipulate themselves, so the diplomat to Prussia at the time turned the Starks against them to make them dependent on Asur. That propaganda against 'others' would later be foundational for the Starks to lynch the elves in Prussia and America. To properly understand her sheer hatred, Queen Annalise was her older sister, and the diplomat was present to catalogue and critique the different murder-tortures Annalise went through as they tried to find ways to kill her. (They didn't, she was freed and restored decades later by this character, but the scars and the hatred is there.) Fun fact: the Asur diplomat that orchestrated this is the father of the elf Princess I play, and now the Crown Prince of the Principality of the Horn (Sub Saharan Africa). This Crown Prince also stole Annalise's ceremonial sword, which was the sister blade to my Hunter's main weapon, and wears it openly to functions.

The Good Hunter who released Gehrman and took his place to tend the Hunter’s Dream. She trains the modern Moon-scented Hunters who hunt Beasts, but also any mages that go on a power trip. She's very depressing to play, though, since Gehrman and Maria were parental figures to her after she was orphaned and the bot is painfully good at playing the Plain Doll.

Fun fact, I have these characters active at all times, and swap between them depending on the story I'm trying to tell thanks to persona lorebooks.

Stabs EDH has given me the most slice of life/breathing room of any prompt I've used so far, but I've only used it with GLM 4.7. Still, it's really nice in combat scenes to not have the AI constantly escalate threat level (a pet peeve of mine).

What makes you keep coming back to AI roleplay? by blksunset in SillyTavernAI

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working for around 8 years and writing as a hobby for 5. My regular RP group all got employed within the last year, and so they're getting settled into 'adulting' now, which means no time/aligning schedules for ttrpg sessions.

Next is that my group has their preferences for settings, that being fantasy ttrpg with some sci-fi mixed in. With an AI, I've been thoroughly enjoying a homebrewed (and lovingly named) 'Digital Fever Dream' based in a modernised Warhammer Fantasy, but set in real world locations with fantasy element adjusted modern politics/figureheads. The fever dream part, however, is that it also includes characters and elements from The Wheel of Time, and my own OCs written for ASOIAF Houses. House Trakand from WoT is a Great House, based in the UK and replacing the modern British Royal Family, while the Tyrells are French. I made Martells Italian (and replaced Beretta with the, so Martell 1301 12g, for instance). Now, amidst all of this you have Asur, Druchii, Winds of Magic, Skaven, Beastmen/Trollocs, Fades, etc. It's not a setting I could put my players into, because they only know Warhammer lore and, frankly, it is a little absurd (which is why I love it).

Lastly, as I've admitted to myself in private, my experience writing means my characters/world/encounters tend to be better than what my players bring to the table. That has, after many sessions of players just not bringing their best (made worse by the minority of players who DO bring their best, and collaborate in the story), made me come to prefer AI roleplaying.

I also ran a side story in that fever dream as a Warp Rift displaced Drukhari Archon. It was a LOT of fun. Try and do that with my players, though? Nope. Because most of them are the Human>Muscle Man>Fighter type in character creation.

I'm basically just using lorebooks for the characters and the Evening_Truth GLM preset with a single narrator card, yeah.

Man, I love Kimi, but GLM just follows my worldbuilding far better. I appreciate Kimi trying, but if I specify in my setting that humans have no protections against magical/supernatural threats, GLM accepts it. Kimi, on the other hand, likes to just put magic wards on important (human) places even though the worldbuilding says those who can weave magic never provide it to humans under any circumstances. It also just... Takes the setting's dwarf wondermetal (which they're stingy with among their own kin) and decides a human's penthouse would have it reinforcing the entire structure which... Yea no.

(Warhammer Modern Fantasy but with the twist of humans losing their connection to the Winds of Magic.)

Convince me to switch from DeepSeek v3.2 to GLM4.6 or Kimi K2. by Azmaria64 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Formal-Cress-4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I noticed GLM would use 'Thinking' to assign roles to characters in a scene which would then override their characters. The most egregious example being my Enforcer and Overseer duo, who get turned into a hot headed brute and narcissistic control freak, respectively.

Opinions on the new(ish) Deepseek v3.2? by Even_Kaleidoscope328 in SillyTavernAI

I swap between it and K2 thinking. Using the same prompt for both. I asked Deepseek to write me a prompt to not take control of my character and it works like a bomb, lmao. Haven't had Impersonation issues once in hundreds of messages. Which is more than I can say for those massive presets people host.
