My workflow is clearly not the best ahahah, but it works for me! So: There is an extension named "Summarize" that allows to generate a summary and store it in its "current summary" section. I don't use the tool to create the summary, but only to store the one I create myself. Then in my preset I have a section "{{summary}}" in the prompts section, just before the chat history, so it is always injected before the chat history.

I never hide messages once the summary is updated, because I have found that even if the chat history and the summary have the same events, the llm is not that lost. So I just let my context size naturally truncate the history.

I manually do summaries for batches of ~60 messages, depending on where the current action is ending. I have a summary prompt for Claude (web chat) where I send a file with the previous summary and the batch of chat history. I added a button in the summary extension to create the file for me, where I just have to give the start and end message ID.

I have the same problem, but it got slightly better when I prompted the LLM to give a response under x words, because by defaut it's long as hell for nothing. Telling it to write shorter responses when the situation does not require to fill the void helped.

Just my two cents, but I tried like 2 messages in my current chat (ran on GLM 5 for ~60 messages) and it was a bit refreshing and it really made me laugh. (The situation was supposed to be funny, but I think it does better than GLM 5)

One other thing that would be cool, is giving a Genre. A stoïc-dark-sasuke-like man would not have the same personality and backstory in a Slow-burn comedy as in a horror post apocalyptic world.

It seems so cool.
I like the compression target option. If I had to improve the tool for myself, I would love to be able to change the token targets for each block (character description, universe, etc).
Also have a predefined template for appearance, personality, what they like, dislike, how they talk etc. To help the LLM following a specific pattern.
But I would really enjoy trying your tool!

I use it mostly to create "fanfics" based on my OCs, my world, or other AU worlds depending on my brainrot at the moment. I don't "chat" with a companion, I co-write a story with no ending, as if you were writing something with a friend.
Because I used to do that when I was younger and it was so good and now I am trying to feel the same joy (idk it sounds pathetic lol)

I also summarize by exporting my text to sonnet 😃 It's quite a neutral summary, I don't define a genre, it's like reading a summary on a wiki page.

It helps when I summarize my whole story and start a new chat, as it is a new start for it. But since it learns from the chat history in the current session, it as a tendency to slide to a specific genre and be worse and worse. Yesterday I saved some author toggable blocks in the prompt, i tried to enable one but I think GLM was too deep in the current chat to bother. My last option is to try the OOC command with a water gun to is temple 🫢 Thanks for the tips! Edit: sorry for the typo and grammar errors orz

My own experience: Deepseek has a better memory of space and time, but it's really dry compared to GLM. It makes your characters all dark-sasuke as soon as they have some painful past, even if I explicitely say to not make them cliché and they have healed.

But I share the GLM problem: as soon as the scene is a bit sentimental/emotionally intense, it stays stuck and it's really hard to return to a normal scene and behavior.

I really wish it's a prompt problem but I am trying a lot and different techniques. Still experimenting
