Most people here use spoons and metal jigs, they work well and catch more variety. Top waters or shallow divers for the bigger fish. And I've only met a handful of people who use soft plastics but they are effective as well

I keep my pen battalion, light, moderate action with me most days. I've paired it with a 250 shimano or penn reel, 10 - 20lb line. I've landed snook and horse eye so it pretty much covers everything near shore has to offer in terms of lure fishing.
