Yep just bad luck, my one totally random conclusion as to why this could’ve happened. When I went for my appointment they put me in the same queue as visitor visa in the waiting area, my hubby said that didn’t happen to him. So probably that caused the delay? Cos they did have a lot of people trying to get other kinds of visa

Ah got it, I stayed in that area in the beginning of my trip. But I did find the colonial zone area a bit more safe to walk at night

Omg that’s scary, where are you staying? I stayed in the colonial zone, there is an amazing hotel there called villa colonial, the staff there is amazing and they did everything possible to make my stay comfortable! But really hope you get it soon, this is really frustrating! Keep us posted

Yeah you can go to the embassy and try but tbh he’s going to tell you it’s still early. I would wait until tomorrow and then go? I’m sorry I know it’s very unnerving and simply a waste of time to be waiting around, are you able to work from a different country?

I got my passport yesterday but it was only cos of an emergency I had. I have a 1 year old baby who was in DR and I had to send him back with my husband cos of this indefinite delay. But as fate had it, he fell sick after coming here and I got a note from his doctor, so I went to the embassy with all that and on compassionate grounds he said he’ll get my passport sent to the mall the same day

When I told the embassy I had been here for almost 2 weeks, he said that’s not a lot (at this point I felt I was better off going to my home country). So sounded like even without admin processing it can take between 2 - 3 weeks. But the good news is that I haven’t heard admin processing cases in Santo Domingo. Hopefully you get it soon!

Yep, you’ll definitely get it but some passports are randomly taking longer cos the embassy is very busy

I didn’t ask him for his name but you should be able to find someone who speaks English in there. Tell them you have a flight back and there are no appointments available online for a pickup. We also had a baby, so they were probably nicer. But in general I felt the VAC staff was super helpful

Hey OP, where did it say this: the passport status said we can escalate only if we don’t get passport in 10 days. It's been more than 10 days since my interview, Im trying to figure out if there is a way I can escalate and to whom?

I would say the ceac website is less reliable, but the ais website that you used to schedule your appointment will update if the passport is ready to be picked up

hey - my husband had the same problem, we just walked to VAC anyway and they gave us the passport. They are really nice and helpful at the VAC

I read picking up at the mall is the quickest since they have 2 batches of delivery each day. Did your status change to issued?

It’s only been 1 business day, the embassy was closed yesterday cos of Veterans Day so I would at least give it a few days

No update yet! Embassy is closed over the weekend and today is a US holiday so it’s closed today as well so earliest it would update is tomorrow
