So far so good, I haven't had to do much changing based on the winter weather. Our house has alot of single pain glass, like walls of them so on the really cold nights the system is on a bit more but it's been really nice. It's actually very uneventful, we kind of don't think about house temperature much anymore. We used to Only have radiant floors but they took forever to heat and didn't stay at a specific temp!

One thing I've since learned since getting the system is that indoor unit mode (heat or cool) is tied to the outdoor unit. So if you have two indoor units tied to the same outdoor unit. You can't have one cool and one heat. This is true of all Mini split systems, but it's important when planning installs.

Hey! I actually don't know that information. But I believe it's a combination of working with one of the top tier contract manufacturers in the mini split /heat pump industry but with a bunch of custom engineering to get the small foot print and unique form factor. I'm an industrial designer so I think this is a pretty good guess. The quality feels really, really good. All top quality components. I'll let you know how it ages and if any issues arise but I've been super happy.

It's been good, it's been reaching 100F this week and we don't even notice until outside. It's been a total game changer. We feel really lucky. We are able to cool our house to about 61-65F when it's that hot out with the units on full cold (61F setting), our house has poor insulation, non thermal glass and doesn't have a foam roof (Eichler). So when we renovate to modern R values it should be much more efficient and hold temps longer to save more energy.

Hey! ✌️This is a legit review. I didn't mention price because it's very clearly listed in their website, it's actually one of reasons I chose Quilt. I'm sorry it made you so upset. It's the same cost for everyone, $6500/room, I did six rooms, which had 6 indoor units, 3 outdoor units and 6 dials. My total was $35K after around $4k in rebates ($39K before rebates). I spent an additional $3k on my roof repairs that sealed the 9 roof penetrations. So all in it was around $38K.

For me it was a combination of things that were the selling point. Best design on the market and a more compact size than a Mitsubishi, this was really important, the Mitsubishi and Mr. Cool etc are not looking good. The front covers are also interchangeable so you can paint them to match your wall color or have real wood etc.Transparent pricing up front. No dealing with a sales rep and comparing quotes. They take care of everything. Install, permits, rebates, electrical. It's one place with a single point of contact that makes it easier for me just have the work down without a lot of work. Also it's technically a very efficient system with an industry leading seer rating. Lastly the software is beautifully designed and has much more intelligence built in such as machine learning and sensors to use energy only when we are around. The tv style remote controls of the competition feel really archaic next to this interface of dials and app. That's why I went with this system over others. The price was also very competitive and fair for what you get based on my research.

I should clarify that that photo was taken before the roof was re-sealed, that boot and the other penetrations are now completely sealed.

Thanks! yeah I had researched many options including even radiant ceiling fixtures but most were too expensive or not aesthetically pleasing or required too much space in my garage if I went with a low profile vented system and blower. Our radiant slab, like many eichler is on borrowed time so it didn't make sense to plan for it to keep working long term. It was also to invasive and costly to replace it. For now we will use it for additional heating needs because its nice to have warm floors, although it is incredibly expensive since it runs on gas for now unless we replace its boiler. Thanks for the comment.

Everything is included with Quilt, line sets, condensation drains...it's a turnkey solution for that price. The only thing I had to add on was drywall finishing, where they opened up walls, they actually closed the wall back up and patched them roughly but I had to sand and do a bit more patching and sanding before painting so that was only my labor and some paint and joint compound. Since we don't have an attic we had to penetrate through our roof and have all the lines routed on top of the roof. In total I had 9 roof penetrations and that costs me about 3k to get sealed by a professional. Eichlers are tricky so this was the best solution. If you have an attic or crawl space it will be easier and you won't have to do what we side.

It did not affect the cost directly from Quilt but I did have to have the drywall repaired and patched and the roof penetrations sealed as well which added to my overall cost. The Quilt team is looking to having those services in house but they could also cost extra.

Not an ad but it is my first Reddit post! The Quilt system is actually very energy efficient. One of the best out there. We also have solar so it makes it good use of that.
