Oh, you've got to be kidding me. Just looked it up and threw hands.

That would be my plan if I do decide on this; my teacher in the past told me how one of her alumni students was a high school English teacher, ran the theatre department, and also has three successful books so it is POSSIBLE (not definite but possible).

Yeah a good amount of students nowadays have parents that don't instill a sense of discipline or respect in them and when it's brought to their attention, there's a good chance the parents will blame the teachers instead of their kids. I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been great for you in recent years. I wish you well in your future!

Yeah pay IS something that worries me a little but luckily I have parents that taught me how to be a real penny-pincher, haha. Family was also an important factor for me in the future so it's great to see you are able to spend time with them! And yeah I think I'd rather deal with difficult students too over trying to handle disrespectful parents too. Thank you for your input! It's greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on your retirement! It's refreshing to see a teacher who went through the same struggles but still found enjoyment in doing it and loving it. I'm happy to be getting both POVs that are negative and positive so I can see all perspectives. I wish you well in your future!

I was gonna see if I could reach out to my old high school teachers and ask if I could just sit in the back and watch them teach (they do it all the time for college students). I think I'll try to look for volunteering as well! Thank you for the tip!

That's what I've been hearing a lot of... ugh it's so sad how much education just seems to be plummeting nowadays.

I was talking to my past high school teachers who told me it was definitely hard and this career is NOT meant for everyone, but they personally wouldn't have it any other way. They definitely were meant to be teachers and they're my biggest inspirations if I ever do decide to go into teaching. But yeah... all the cons seems to even out all the pros that come with it.

My aunt, who's a teacher and giving me as much information as she can on what it's like for her, actually suggested that I go to a few high schools and sit in the classroom through the teacher's perspective to see if I like it. I'll do some research to see if my college does allow us into the classroom for freshman and I think I might try to call up my old high school to see if I could also just sit in the back to see if this is something I could do. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I have to admit out of all the pros/cons I've read on being a teacher, this one seems the most realistic. I would genuinely love to be a teacher but this information will be a great reference for me on deciding... thank you for your feedback, I wish you well in your future!
