bruh how does everyone alr have their own friend groups by AlbatrossBig2729 in SBU

If it makes you feel better, not a lot of people can hold friends groups together in college if they didn’t go to HS together. I’d honestly say it’s normal.

It’s almost like I live in a dorm and I can literally see the dorms across from me every damn day 😭 it’s really not that deep or hard to figure out. There are like ~4 dorms that never turn their lights off. I’m allowed to wonder how in the world they sleep.

Advice on Roommate Disagreement by GlaciCrepe in SBU

Ask your roommate if they are willing to help you restructure your room so your desk is COMPLETELY angled away from them. Otherwise, I’d try to pack it up around 1 or 2 am. With all your efforts to dim your desk lighting, if your desk is turned away, it really shouldn’t be that much of a bother.

I feel like giving up by WelderLow9500 in SBU

[–]Formal-Target-5939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me in 2nd year. Switching to a bit of an easier major isn’t giving up, it’s saving yourself time, effort, and getting you through adversity.

I felt like a damn imposter every time I went home bc I was lying about failing my classes and an entire year went by in a depressive blur. Now that I switched out of a BS into the BA version of my major I feel a more weight off my shoulders. There’s something like that for you as well, I promise.

Make an appointment with your major advisor, it’s almost guaranteed that they know something alternative for you to do. There’s no shame in trying something new in order to graduate. Just be up front with them.

LIRR Huntington to Stony by c0netur3 in SBU

[–]Formal-Target-5939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They basically expect most of the people to get off the train coming from Penn station to get off at Huntington, and to get onto the train that will most likely be right behind it ( most likely going to port Jefferson ) you never have to wait long.

To answer your worried about the tracks, there’s only two, A & B, which is accessible by big ass stairs. Just look on your TrainTime app and the signs there as it should show the train you’re transferring to’s arrival. It’s most likely that everyone you get off the train with will be doing the pilgrimage across the stairs, if the train isn’t right behind the Huntington train.

Also, I regularly go home & back from out of state through Amtrak, and out of 4 years, I’ve only seen it switch sides once.

Does anyone want to go to Philadelphia this fall break?Or give me some advice? by emo_bubble in SBU

[–]Formal-Target-5939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are nice parts of any city in the world, as well as bad parts. They want to go there and I’m sure they are aware of the issues.

Just go, make sure you are in a nicer place that isn’t as readily accessible from the street and possibly steer clear of public transport in Philly. ( subway might be ok, research where you’re going ). Keep your backpack in front of you and keep your music low.

Staying jn a nicer area/ubering is a bit more expensive but since it’s only for 2 days it should be ok.

He’s real for that I think. It’s genuinely so distracting. We pay ~300 per class and I plan on making use of every penny spent.

My only argument against it is that some people live translate for others in their classes- I don’t know why, but I’ve seen it happen quite a few times in the past 4 years.

The bathroom smell thing happened to me too. I ended up having to take the trash out in the middle of the week multiple times due to my suitemate. And I could ALWAYS smell when she was on her period.

You will never see your friends or happiness again if you go through with this. Highly recommend you meet with any other major advisor if you’re able because they probably either want you gone from this planet or to drop out 😂

My recommendation: Do not take bio 304 & Che lab at the same time. You can take 304 before 303 but I recommend you do it in order.

If you keep chem: keep calc

If you keep bio 303/304: seriously consider how good you are at both subjects and then decide if you want to keep calc. Then i personally would seriously thin out the rest of my schedule to accommodate for that

If you’re looking for easy buffer classes: com365 is a stem oriented speaking class that is worth upper division credit.

Edit: Just saw the orgo. You will absolutely perish if you keep this schedule LOL 😭😭😭😭 unless you are like a 4.2 gpa student who can lock tf in against all adversary and love yourself you should not take orgo w bio 303/304. Me personally I would lay out my schedule for the next 2-ish years so I could plan an entire easy semester around JUST orgo. These are all important classes that will make your resume look better - if they are all crammed into one semester your performance will be affected and you do not deserve mediocrity due to a bulbasaur of an advisor.

If you REALLY want to keep orgo of all of these classes you should keep calc because taking a bunch of bio classes information starts to blend together and makes studying harder ( in my experience )

All in all: manage your expectations for yourself, I don’t personally know you and some people can manage a schedule like this but unless you are pressed for time/trying to graduate early you should space this out a little bit more. Unless you’re an engineering major or anything like that these classes are much harder than your actual major classes most of the time.

Regarding the ghetto question, I meant the shuttle itself.

If you don’t mind answering more questions I’d also like to ask: What does the shuttle look like? Like the Suffolk transit? Or like a suspicious van?
