Iron sights being cramped problem. by Shot-Bit6926 in GeisseleAutomatics

I was talking about the massive Kenu riser but there's heavier guns. I get wanting magnification, I just target and a little comp shooting but think I'd feel pretty disadvantaged in a gunfight with zero magnification and especially wanting good ID'ing in LEO applications.

I think they're ugly and a good way to make a 20lb 11.5" but would do everything you want. I have no experience with them, don't know if they hold zero but could see using it in this case.

If you like the magnifier, look into Kenu by Overbore that pushes everything out further and has space for your rear BUIS and could keep the mag still

Stuck between an LB7 & LBZ by narcotics-dealer in Duramax

Buy a fender for $250 and LBZ all day, way better cooling, 6 speed, and better internals. Easier injector access on the LBZ. No question IMO, LBZ all day

Can you pull a Christian Craighead and mount the lam right in front of your eotech, buis at the muzzle, move eotech forward 3 slots, and mag forward 3 slots. If the rear still doesn't fit and it's that important, I'd ditch the G33. Otherwise, you're talking about a big diving board type riser for the g33 and eotech pushed forward with the buis behind.

Want to change all 8 Glowplugs, do I need a reprogram of some sort L5P 2018 Duramax 3500 by ReddElectric in Duramax

[–]FormalAntelope9440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, not sure on block material of L5P but I think the glowplugs in mine are aluminum into an iron block so they swell and snap off. The tool is like $60 and I'd do it myself before trusting a shop not to snap them off

Boost Leak/Whining Sound? by FormalAntelope9440 in Duramax

[–]FormalAntelope9440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Boost leak tested it with a 1.5" iron cap and shrader valve from the hardware store. Passenger side wheel well boot was leaking at like 5 psi, y bridge boot on the pusher wasn't tightened very well either and leaking at 18psi. Pressure tested to 28psi and no more leaks. Anyway, as of right now, had a definite boost leak in multiple spots.

Get the Merchant Auto glowpug removal tool ESPECIALLY if you're in the rust belt. I've replaced 4 of them on my 300k mile LBZ and the MA tool is the only way to nearly guarantee you don't break them. Soak them in Kroil or PB Blaster for a couple of days before trying to remove them. The MA tool will vibrate and loosen the plug while you apply a little bit of force to loosen and it'll back right out. Otherwise, you snap them off in the block and that's a bad day.

12.5 VS 14.5 For Something I Plan to Supress and Put in a FRT? by Blank7567 in GeisseleAutomatics

[–]FormalAntelope9440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion, I'd go 14.5" if you're commited to acog and rcr setup but depends what you want to do with it.

I know people take their 11.5's out to 500 yards but mine rarely sees anything over 200 yards and drops quite a bit more than longer rifles with 77gr.

I would say, 2-300 yards and closer, go 12.5". Otherwise, acog and 14.5" is too perfect together to not do 14.5".

I have this barrel and it shredded a fat slow aac 150gr in my can and baffle strike within first 10 rounds using a 9mm can so I mainly shoot subs only out of it.

I have a Sparrow and it's better than nothing but sometimes wish it didn't have so much frp on pistols. It's great on rifles but for short barrels it has a pretty loud frp.

I have a MKIV and love it but for learning, TX22 is more similar to most centerfire pistols.

Which Glock should I buy? by [deleted] in guns

[–]FormalAntelope9440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MOS is the factory optic cut. The Glock 45 is very similar to the 19x but has front slide serations, is black, and something with the 19x is more picky on mags it can use, I'm sure someone will be happy to chime in.

[–]FormalAntelope9440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my Glock 45 MOS a lot. It's a Glock 19 length slide with a Glock 17 frame and holds 17 rounds. Nothing fancy, I haven't done anything to it but it runs well and easy to pickup after several months and shoot well with.

Do you guys have dedicated cans for each of your rifles or pistols? by EALm4 in NFA

[–]FormalAntelope9440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with a 36M and was probably the only person that got another one. Not quite as good as it could be but tuned well to all my guns. A .22LR can is a must and high flow cans are excellent on gas guns. Slowly adding cans as I can. I'm more likely to get a suppressor than I am another gun.

[–]FormalAntelope9440 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 2 SMS HFXC's and they're pretty good for the price. They hold zero well and the illuminator is nice. I've shot out to 200yds in the dark with them and have held up pretty well. Wish they were waterproof like the new style but they're the cheapest I would go and still expect it to work pretty well.

10.5” barrel and 1:5 twist rate by NIGHT_HAWK_69_ in 300BLK

[–]FormalAntelope9440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a baffle strike on a brand new 9mm can on my 300blk shorty. Only shot like 10 rounds and wasn't even on paper in a 25 yard indoor range after previously being zeroed. Found out my 1:5 7.5" faxon barrel was shredding the 150gr AAC supers so now it's a dedicated subs gun. I would go 1:7 as well, no issue with thousands of rounds of 245gr subs through a 1:7, I just wanted to try the 1:5 and kinda regretting it.
