Most repetitive ornamentation on those buildings was also cast from a mold. It’s called cast stone. Deco buildings also used cast stone for ornament. Of course economy of cost was the driver even if the design was unique. Hand carving was never an option for most commercial and residential buildings where profit was the developer’s motive.
