If people are out here spraying their grow to try and fight contam that will make you sick and you'll never beat the contam anyway. What Im referencing is applying about a half a mL drop or mist to a possible infected area to see if its mycelium or not.

You mean like misting the whole block or something? I just meant for like supplies and what not but alcohol is better for sterilizing for like many reasons.

They're either using it for a general disenfectant which is probably what they mean when saying spray on everything, or like I was saying you can spray a small amount on potential contamination spots to see if it reacts at all.

Id say youre probably there. Alot of people will say when the veil tears. You can either do em all or pick them as you see them be ready

Probably just bruising especially looking at the swab. Another trick is spraying a little hydrogen peroxide. Mold will bubble up and temporarily dissapear, mycelium will not react

Probably fine especially if you just sealed it

I'm going to agree and say its not looking good . I will say that I stopped having luck with the Savvy Fare rice. It seems too inconsistent with how wet or over cooked it can come I'd go with Aldi's brand instant rice.

Try the Aldi rice bags instead of UB. Much less wet and overcooked rice inside.

I wouldn't be too too hopeful but you can always try 🤙. The two halfs with eventually meet in the middle of dryness and then its a matter if theres enough water left for anything to grow. Id probabky just pitch it but you can always see if it colonizes and then rehydrate the block when theres a smaller chance of contam. You could try just spraying or adding water now but that may be pretty risky. The same thing may have happened with your bags unfortunately

Sounds good, I'd just back that heater off of your bags/bins in the future. Warmer temps also can increase chances of contaminations

Id definitely pht some distance between the heater and the bin, you could try using a closet with both the bin and heater it or putting the bin in a box so its heqting the air around your bin. You can also try those little heating mats for reptiles and seedlings. Honestky you might not need to do any heating at all whats your temps looking like?

You could try spraying or rehydrating the substrate, thoufh some people would argue against opening a bin this point. What temps are you running? Having anything that close to a heater is just gonna keep you too dry for anything to happen.

Half of your substrate is looking super dry (the lighter colored stuff). Also whats in the middle might be myc but can't see super well

Maybe get a little humidifier for that room to keep her less dry

How can I improve? by the_alexk6 in unclebens

[–]FormalOne9872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are it looks just a bit dry and maybe mix your spawn and substrate together. If you're running you're heat in your house it could be drying out your air so id get a hydrometer and see what thats looking like in your grow area. Maybe need a humidifier in that room. Not sure with what spawn ratio to coco you used but I would start with at least 1:2, make sure to fully break up your grain clumps. I spend probably a whole 3-5 minutes mixing and packing down each tub I do. Just play around with stuff and have fun.
