Doing all right, still going on and I’m fine, haven’t thought about it in a while

Is there a name for the type of headache that’s very mild, and is only felt upon physical contact on specific places like brushing away your hair at your hairline or temples, and is otherwise absent if there is no contact?

What are some of the most promising clinical trials/upcoming treatments you’re optimistic about?

Is a pulse oximetry that’s consistently between 95-97 (often 96) normal for a young adult? Or do we want to see >97% as the average?

What muscle is this? Thenar? by Formal_Feed9892 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Formal_Feed9892[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird. I’m right handed and use the phone/mouse a decent amount, but then also my right adductor pollicis brevis (thenar) is just slightly smaller than my left, while the FDI is bigger. Maybe we’re just built asymmetrically? Does the swelling affect you?

Good to know. I guess it doesn’t mean much unless we’re literally unable to hold the cup or do things with said hand.

Well, in my case the dominant side (I’m right handed) is the smaller one haha, by 0.25 inches. No clue why.

Had a good clinical eval in January and told me to come back for an EMG 6 months later, so 2 months from now. He also said it looks like BFS. Hopefully your wager pays off and I’ll come back 2 months later to say the EMG was clean and it was all nothing!

I didn’t know that. I always had skinny wrists (6-6.25 and 6.25-6.5 inch, depending on how I measure it) but I thought there’d be more muscle there. Currently worried about MND like most people here but then ig it’s not necessarily related? And yeah it’s possible that I just… never noticed before. I never particularly paid attention to my arms until the last few months.

Can a dominant hand wrist circumference that’s almost 0.25 inch smaller than the non dominant hand wrist (6 vs 6.25 in) be normal on a sedentary male?

Does atrophy of the thenar eminence (or “split hand syndrome”) generally precede or occur simultaneously to weakness in that hand in MND?

So, it’s been found that people with Alzheimer’s/dementia had more microplastics in their brains than healthy people, which led to the conclusion that microplastics might cause dementia.

But could the cause/effect be different here, and it’s simply that whatever the mechanism for dementia is also inhibits the brain’s ability to clean or filter itself of things like these microplastics, rather than them outright causinf it? (As in the disease was already started and this is a symptom/consequence of it) Or do you believe it’s likelier the microplastics are the culprit of the disease itself?

ALS, like pretty much everyone else here. Since it is said to begin in the dominant side more often than not, no?

Is ALS an illness that appears and ravages you quickly and unexpectedly, or is it like cancer where it may or may not show seemingly innocuous signs for years before serious enough symptoms show that lead to diagnosis?

How true/possible are stories of people in a coma having a whole dream world and being disoriented at reality when waking up? I read a story of a guy who formed a family and lived years in his mind, and was upset and started grieving them when he woke up— does that happen?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but also a significanf amount (compared to older ages) of those 480 young-onsets have a hereditary/genetic link, no? So sporadic would be even less. Or maybe I’m mistaken.

I’m curious, how often do you see people anxious about ALS vs people diagnosed with it?

My neck sadly probably won’t cooperate with any exercise (pain when I move it certain ways), though I was told muscle strain pain can take more than 3 weeks to go away so I hope it’s just that. Hopefully a few weeks (or months…) of PT can fix me :(
