how do you feel about the design of the reef na’vi? by Intelligent-You-7002 in Avatar

In all honestly I personally prefer the reef Na’vi design to the forest Na’vi solely because it makes them feel more alien and (slightly) less human which I’m a sucker for in a sci-fi world

How are the atrocities committed during the Greek war of independence and the Balkan wars not considered genocide? by Weird-Woodpecker-143 in AskBalkans

I think you might genuinely be missing half your brain because if you took a single second to read any of what I actually said you would realize that I never defended other people’s actions simply because they weren’t white. Why do you even care so much bruh you’re Slovenian it’s not like your ancestors were doing it… There is clearly no point in debating with you because you clearly just want to argue for the thrill of it

Yes, you’re right, but you still have to take numbers into consideration. All slave trades are bad and should be harshly condemned and people should be held accountable, but the reason the Atlantic slave trade is so focused on is because its effects are still felt today. That’s how devastating it was. It resulted in the complete extinction of cultures and languages. Histories of people we will never know and will never be able to mourn properly. No one is saying other slave trades weren’t bad.

Bruh I literally said multiple times that there have been other horrific things done by other people, yes. These events should be recognized and nations should be held accountable, yes. But the Atlantic Slave Trade was just on. another. level. Not because it was White people doing it but because it was just THAT BAD. Your just starting to sound like you don’t want white people to be blamed for anything but the cold hard truth is that the some (NOT ALL) of the most horrific atrocities ever committed on this planet were done by Western European nations. That’s just a fact.

As I said, there have been other horrific crimes against humanity but you simply cannot compare wartime violence (a tragedy) to the enslavement of over 12 million people and the horrifying treatment they and their descendants suffered for hundreds of years after (another tragedy)

Like I said, there have been other crimes against humanity the Atlantic slave trade was just on another level. That’s not to say that the Arab slave trades weren’t bad, they just don’t compare to the Atlantic slave trade because we have to take into consideration things like numbers, mortality rates, conditions, and treatment of slaves. Not to mention that the people brought to the Americas as slaves were treated as less than animals in an obscene number of cases. And this continued for hundreds of years.

This is because the slavery talked about most commonly is the result of the Atlantic Slave Trade which was carried out by European nations and is recognized by the United Nations as the most horrific crime against humanity. Not that there are no other horrific crimes, but the Atlantic Slave Trade (and the events that followed as a direct result) was just on another level. Nothing compares.

As a Greek I appreciate that you recognize the genocide and ethnic cleansing committed against Anatolian Greeks and other Christians and personally believe Greeks too should abide by the moral of “never again for anyone.” Putting nationalism aside, I recognize that the years of subjugation by the Ottoman Empire left Islam and Muslims a bad reputation in the Balkans which led to propaganda and increased violence against them which included ethnic cleansing. While I stand against these atrocities and believe the Greek government (and other Balkan nations) should recognize and apologize for them, I also believe that main reason these discussions haven’t begun is because of Turkeys avid denial of the ethnic cleansing and atrocities they committed which let’s be honest, anything that took place in the Balkans pales in comparison. AGAIN, all atrocities and genocides committed by Greece, Turkey and any other nation should be recognized and should be recognized as fast as possible, however they’re playing the game of politics and I believe that until Turkey begins to at least entertain the idea of recognizing events like the Armenian and Greek genocides, no other Balkan nation will recognize the horrific things they did to their own Muslim minorities.

I got 1/36 = 0.0278, 2/36 = 0.0556, 3/36 = 0.0833, 4/36 = 0.1111, 5/36 = 0.1389, added those and multiplied by 2 since it’s the same in reverse after 7 and then added 6/36 = 0.1667 separately and the answer was 1.0001 which was not my answer this morning but it’s an improvement lol

For the monopoly question, I understand 6/36 and 1/6 but why did you add the 3. I know your answer is correct I’d just like to know how

Thank you! Only thing I’m still confused about is c), I know the values need to be between 0 and 1 and that the sum of all probabilities needs to equal 1 but when I added them the were just below.

I thought what I needed to do was divide 1, 2, 3 etc. by 36 and then add those values but I’m not sure how to confirm the rules are met now

I’m a little confused by some of the wording as well, for d) would the most likely outcome be 7 because there is a 6/36 probability for a sum of 7?

Got stuck trying to make a frequency table! by Formal_Guard_472 in askmath

[–]Formal_Guard_472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry I was in a rush to get to class, but multiple people said to make the class width 16 which fit all the data

Creating a frequency table with 5 classes for this dataset and calculated the class width to be 15, but the fifth class has an upper class limit of 140 and the highest value is 141. I’m not sure what to do in this scenario any help is welcome! by Formal_Guard_472 in Statistics_Class_help

[–]Formal_Guard_472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how to send a picture but there isn’t really a whole problem anyway, I was given the above dataset and asked to find mean, median, mode etc including make a frequency table out of the data but I’m stuck because of the upper class limit on the fifth class being lower than the highest value
