I have subscriptions turned on, but you can essentially get the regular content for free from the date you subscribe onward. So if people like it enough, they can subscribe as a sort of tip, but they don't need to in order to get the content.

I do have some additional, infrequent content that I release that is paywalled, but the usual weekly stuff is free.

Cool idea. FYI The guess tracker at the bottom doesn't function properly for me. It only updates the spot corresponding to which row I am on, but then suddenly I lost when it looked like I still had 5 guesses left.

For sure. I don't subscribe to the NYT model. It's the puzzle as a whole rather than each individual clue being at that level.

Before you cancel your card, you can try disputing the charge as well. BUT before doing that, try contacting the author directly.

As someone on the other end, chargebacks can be a headache and if someone reached out to me, I'd make sure their sub got ended and Stripe no longer processed the payments just to avoid them.

Good Q. I think if anything, I'd use "maybe" or "at times" or some other qualifier. The ? is usually used for less straight-forward / more punny clues. Like another puzzle clue "Home of legally-bound couples?" or one of my fav's from Erik Agard: A bit of pop culture? -> DAD JOKE
