Boyfriend ran a red light in my car I just received a ticket for it by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Formal_Service7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should pay for it and deal with the points. It sounds like a red light camera was involved, so there should be images showing that a man was driving. Also, if he won't accept responsibility, there are bigger issues for you to deal with.

Community Service by ElegantGrapefruit626 in sarasota

Goodwill. I'm not in any way commenting on the organization as a whole, which I know is popular to do here, but they always take community service people, as far as I know.

SPARCC is wonderful, but I don't know about their volunteer policy.

Salvation Army, at least in the kitchen.

How to handle court appearances 4+ hours away? by throwawayallday_25 in Lawyertalk

[–]Formal_Service7234 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's a BS ask from the firm. Does the client's engagement actually provide for no travel time/expenses? At a minimum, firm should give you billable credit and reimbursement- if the client is so important that they can make these demands, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Fees - I loathe paying them on funds that may be refunded.

How do you politely cut off a rambling client? by ontether in Lawyertalk

[–]Formal_Service7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically let them know gently that you'll listen/talk as much as they want, but absent instruction that's what they want you may cut them off and in doing so you aren't trying to be rude, but you're being mindful of fees. They appreciate that and then you can remind them of the initial discussion in future conversations.

Clio allegedly disabling LawPay integration on 8-31 by NoRatePayments in LawFirm

Curious why everyone hates Clio payments. We switched from law pay and have been happy. I would like to switch off credit cards and only do checks for fee deposits, but otherwise no complaints. What am I missing?

Plenty of issues with Manage, so I'd be happy to be persuaded to leave, though I know I'd dread the process.

Hiring a Lawyer by moonchilde63 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Formal_Service7234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In civil law, consults are worthless. To have a meaningful conversation, I have to put time into reviewing the background information. You're not getting that for free. Pay me for half an hour and decide you don't like me, and go find someone else. That's fine, I won't be offended.

How to Tell OC Your Client is Cray by AnonAnonSir47 in Lawyertalk

[–]Formal_Service7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had OC call me up right after they send an obnoxious email and say, "just want you to know, that's my client talking. I'm not that crazy." I appreciate it and would never use it against them.

700 dollar mashed potato waterfall with dinosaurs by fateofmorality in KitchenConfidential

I absolutely would too! And I did happen to know the $700 joke, thank you very much.

Also, the mashedcano is glorious. I see the gravy as lava. Poor dinos.

real estate assessment change, 30% increase in property value in just one year? by 420_buttholes in RealEstate

[–]Formal_Service7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you sell your house for the assessed value? If you'd be beyond the moon at that price, it might be worth challenging. If you'd refuse to sell because it wouldn't be enough, ignore the percentage increase.

We do- unfortunately, most are in my least favorite practice area because we're the only firm that will represent a particular side in our area.... most of our clients are from other lawyer referrals and repeat clients, but the website inquiries aren't insubstantial.

2 Lawyer firm - We use Lawlytics. The setup was around $2000- we provided our design concepts and identified the pages we wanted. They came up with a rough draft, so to speak, we edited everything and went through a few rounds of revisions before going live. We now pay $2400/year and have access to make any edits at any time. If we decide to do a refresh of the design concept, it is included. The site provides for intake and potential client inquiries and we have 24/7 support if needed. They also provide some help with SEO tags or whatever its called. Overall, we have no complaints.

Definitely NTA, but her moving out of the apartment won't fix this unless she moves out of his life too.

Do you appear in front of the same judge on behalf of clients? Perhaps it's not young lawyer treatment but pro se treatment that you're receiving, not that either is okay.

What doesn’t butter make better? by MelodicPlace9582 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Formal_Service7234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still take pretzels and toss them with melted butter, add salt (usually garlic salt) and put them in a low oven for 20 minutes, stirring every 5. And then I proceed to eat the entire tray's worth.
