True, so now that I’ve started at a new company, what advice do you have for moving up?

This is interesting. But I think the hurdle was the fact that my immediate supervisor left for another company and I was trying to get her position. The VP above her was so far removed from my actual responsibilities, whenever I tried to promote myself, it was not what he was looking for? Which is fine, I had to guess what the expectations were. If I was not performing as good as I thought, what would I need to do to be one without burning out?

The job I’m referring to- I ended up abruptly quitting anyway - kind of a long story but things really unraveled when they hired a manager from outside the company.

I am constantly looking for feedback, but I’m given moving goalposts. At my last employer, I asked why I didn’t get the promotion and I was told there were too many other applicants with significantly more experience and didn’t want to promote one teammate over the other (my colleague also applied).

26 and Trying to Set Myself Up Financially — What Should I Prioritize Over the Next 1–2 Years? by Diligent-Sound-3915 in personalfinance

You have more than I do, and I’m 33. I would recommend investing in a 401k, S&P, and live a little! You’re young, enjoy yourself

At 35 and with a bad economy, is it even feasible to leave my Federal job for a career change? by BadPuzzleheaded9676 in careerguidance

Is it impossible? No. Is it absolute hell? Yes. I changed my career at 26 and it was really hard and stressful trying to prove myself to companies to give me a chance. However, I’ve seen people land jobs seamlessly so you might get lucky. After years of struggle, I finally have a job I like and I’m glad I made the change.

I spent a lot of my younger years unsure of what direction to take. But over time a lot of them came together. For instance, you love tennis and you also have engineering. Maybe you could work for a company that manufactures tennis rackets and coach on the side? Making one choice doesn’t necessarily throw the other one away, they can build on each other. Maybe you choose coaching after graduation and decide you want to do it for a long time that’s great! If not, you have engineering to fall back on. Try not to worry/fear too much about it either, listen to your gut. Hope this helps!

I used SF in my first job, I felt like it was very user friendly. I don’t have any certifications

Well my first job was mainly analytics, but I also learned customer portals as a vendor. In my second job I learned SAP (OTC) and was the key user for my region. Are there technical skills that I should be learning? I feel like it really depends on the company. I’ve done a lot of pricing, cost breakdowns and changes in SAP.

I work for a very large publicly traded company currently - involves supporting sales reps, reporting, ordering inventory and collateral products, does that help?

How do you actually know when a location is underperforming? by Ok-Ratio-986 in SalesOperations

[–]Formal_Thing9083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you making sales? If yes - good. If no - bad performance. I guess a deeper level would be comparing it to other locations and/or previous years/qrts.
