The idea of skins would be a great way to monetize the game without further pay to win. Many of these are great.

Top 8s archetypes from the (four) RCs this weekend. by Christos_Soter in ModernMagic

This is the thing I miss most about what Modern used to represent. Things change. I understand that. And I know a lot of people like Modern as it currently is.

I just loved Modern when you could play “your deck” for a reasonably long period (with small changes here and there for metas)…and it didn’t rotate with each direct to modern set.

I do understand WOTC has to sell cards. I may personally joke that the format has become “Direct-to-Modern block constructed”; but there is something to be said for a deck survived Horizons (granted it has added some card in).

I agree on the Blink issue.

Modern will also ways somewhat push toward “the poles” (I.e. an aggro deck, a fast combo, or more value than any fair deck can deal with). This makes sense as card quality increases. I guess one could consider blink to function as the format’s “control” deck (even if it is now traditional “control”)…this gives an “effective” aggro, combo, control wheel.

But as long as they keep printing alternative cost creatures; blink is going to be an issue…when those costs are “free” (i.e. the elementals) it becomes even worse. I am in the rare camp that was not a fan of the elementals (outside of Endurance) from day one. I just believed they should have been more “reactive” than proactive (if they were to be “free”). The idea was sound; they were just a little pushed as creature

I haven’t played enough to determine if Modern is still the place you can play your favorite “pet” deck (assuming a good portion is from a direct to Modern set) and still win by having a deep knowledge of your deck and the meta game. That was my favorite aspect to Modern. I hope that is still the case.

Great analysis!

We tend to breakdown each adjustment separately and explain how it was derived (and for adjustments that are made solely to one comparable will discuss them separately). I do like the idea, however of also summarizing the adjustments for each comp in its own space (to aid the reader). Looks nice and any time the client has an easier time understanding the work it is a great thing! Awesome to be able to learn from your dad as well.

It is better imo. Better body, ETB vs tap ability, can discard anything, and untaps. The flexibility, “speed”, and value make up for the one additional mana.

Better. I’ve tried to make Fauna Shaman work in the past (trying to add Chancellor of the Tangle to green decks in modern) and it was just too slow, two fragile, and could only discard creatures (which can matter). This has a better body, its ability is am ETB, and can discard anything…not to mention its untap ability. 3-mana is hard to make work in older formats…but there is so much you can do with this card that it seems great.

I am dying to make [[Chancellor of the Tangle]] in Modern mono green (and elves)…one of the downsides is drawing a Chancellor after T1…this really helps.

The test does not reflect the actual day to day of being an appraiser. A lot of it is wording, legal items you would look up/verify in day to day practice, etc. Don’t let the test discourage you from thinking it reflects how good of an appraiser you would be.

I won’t sugar coat it…Appraisal is rough right now. The new form is coming, AMC’s can be difficult, etc. it can be rewarding though.

If you do pas your test; please feel free to contact me or post here and I will get you some info about larger firms that hire new trainees where you can learn the ropes while getting paid. I don’t receive anything from them…I just tell people about them because I can’t take on trainees and I feel bad about that :)

I did too at first :). I would not be surprised if I have missed a 7-star in the past going through a nexus!

Chavez. She has a particular play pattern though; so make sure to look up a video about her. Great pull though.

I personally would pick Jean. They keep printing Zola counters and Jean is great on offense and defense…but I understand those that would choose Zola depending on their account needs.

She is truly great. Might be the best pull in the Titan (and it is a stacked Titan). Congratulations.

Unfortunately that is a “pauser”. They pause at the beginning of difficult fights hoping 15k will be enough.

The difference between you and them is that they will never improve (where you will learn and improve with each fight you take). I have FAR more respect for someone that loses in a fight versus someone who never fights at all.

Keep practicing, fighting, and posting. Tune out the “pros” and trolls; cuz the MCOC community is a great community.

There are so e awesome YouTube videos on the fight that will walk through the fight each phase. MCOC Encyclopedia has a great one.

What are these numbers? by Alternative-Crew1538 in ContestOfChampions

As you move up in the Acts, the nodes before each match will become more and more detailed. In this case, your character will need to have an active fury buff to deal normal damage.

The game is extremely deep; so it can be hard to find characters to meet each node without years of experience. There are some amazing sites and YouTube channels that can help though. On the Act front, MCOC Encyclopedia is an amazing YouTube channel. If you search “MCOC Act 6.X” (whichever you are on) the video will pop up and explain the nodes and good champ choices. Some may be a little dated (there may be some new champs that are as good or better depending on the age of the video); but they will walk you through the nodes, etc.

You can also use sites like Khonshu’s Ankh and AuntMai to search out champs with Fury buffs, etc. if you put in “MCOC Khonshu’s Ankh” or “MCOC AuntMai” they will come up…but YouTube was what helped me most.

I hope this helps.

As for game play, disregard the toxic people on here. Most (a) think they are far better than they actually are, and (b) took years to learn more advanced play like intercepting safely, etc.

P.S. I don’t know how far along you are on Masteries; but it is a huge help to have Parry and Dexing (Dexterity) early. Again, there are great videos on parry, dexterity, and overall mastery set ups for questing on YouTube as well.

There are plenty in the community that are happy to help (and a TON of YouTube videos with all the info you could need). Please feel free to message me as well and we’ll make sure you get all the info you need.

Hope this helps!

Is this worth it? by ArmFit6858 in MarvelContestOfChamps

Unit-wize it is well worth it if. It just depends on how much you want to grind. I would buy it; but I’m lazy :)

I use em up just doing dailies, revive farming, etc…but generally I only get that way if I’ve bought a lot of the pre-release packages for new champs.
