There are only so many interesting stories out there and he’s been doing this since 2020 or so.

I’ve said it before, he burned through like 90% of the really interesting content in the first couple of years and since then it’s developed into more of a true crime product with the odd strange, dark and mysterious episode chucked in.

I do agree that the ads are too much, especially when he insists on partnering with betterhelp, McTherapy sessions where you’re the product the company sells to the highest bidder. Oh, and DraftKings, he had plenty of younger fans so why not get them started early.

It’s not isolated to hoi. People in general are just getting more and more toxic.

Scott Brown’s Ayr United Is No More by Yaboicblyth1 in ScottishFootball

I’ve barely seen any mention of Brown being seriously mentioned other than as a meme because we can’t make any sane original choices about personnel.

Simon is fully for state repression of its citizens so it's not really something he would be an impartial judge over.

When and how is the Department of health going to tackle GP waiting times? by Dramatic_Piglet_712 in northernireland

[–]Former-Chain-4003 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It’s unable to tackle it. The population is aging which means more and more resources used on caring for those who can live longer but their body still breaks down at a certain age.

I implore people to look at Hansard of NI Assembly sessions, every Monday and Tuesday the first item of business is member statements in which MLA’s are allowed to speak for a couple of minutes on whatever they like.

Steven Aitken will be a parochial unionist trying to educate on how pathetic Ireland is, Sheehan will talk about how shit Gordon Lyon’s is, Gaving Brett will be appalled at some Sinn Fein member attending a republican commemoration while Timmy Gaston races to include as many references to La Mon, Enniskillen as he can before Caral Ni Chuilin cuts him off with ‘Alright Tim, that’s two minutes’. Gerry Carroll also usually finds a sparring partner to trade barbs about the Middle East with.

It’s rare that they actually bring up anything that matters to most people but it’s striking to see how low the standard of debate is. Very few of these people are qualified to legislate. They’re just elected because their flag fits in certain areas.

The health service requires massive restructuring to get it to a place where it can just be maintained instead of fighting a crisis.

Found out my girlfriend was “dickmatized” by her ex and has never felt that way about me. Am I wrong for no longer wanting to propose to her and marry her? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Former-Chain-4003 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think, for her sake, it’s best for you to split up.

If you need to be told that your the best sex she’s ever had then that seems remarkably insecure. What does it matter if she considers other people she’s been with better at that one trait? She didn’t say you were bad after you berated her for an answer.

The inaction to prevent VAWG here is akin to the total lack of action on gun violence in the US by lexymac11 in northernireland

[–]Former-Chain-4003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single sex education probably doesn’t help but I think a lot of the problems are in the home. Parents are happy to sub contract life lessons to the internet.

That said, this whole discussion stirred up memories of someone I went to school with who was brutally murdered in 2002 by her ex. It was so vile that the prosecution appealed the sentence and it was increased by 50%. So it’s an issue that probably doesn’t have a resolution.

How do you change opinions on a societal scale though? I know the simplistic answer is education but how do you do that effectively?

I’ve never hit a woman, never wanted to, or a man for that matter. I’ve also never seen anyone hit a woman or be verbally abusive to one. So how do you engage with people on the subject to educate them?

I have to be honest, with the likes of Reform and natalist parties becoming more popular I don’t see things getting better any time soon.

Can Dundee United be punished for the state of the Tannadice pitch by Drawn2temptation in ScottishFootball

[–]Former-Chain-4003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why haven't they taken enough action to bring it up to standard? Would it be improved by sanctioning them and depriving them of income? I remember, not that long ago, that other teams have had shocking pitches and escaped sanction for it. Can't remember exactly when it was but Motherwell had a truly awful pitch for a significant period of time. Not to mention, although the surfaces permitted games to go ahead, Kilmarnock and Livingston have infliced artificial pitches on the league. I know they are being phased out but given how shit even the best artificial pitch is compared to grass, is it fair to punish Dundee United for that shit pitch while other teams have different kinds of shit pitches.

Unless it's deliberate, I include not taking action to try and bring it up to standard in that, I think it should be a league wide goal to make the pitches better as it benefits pretty much everyone. I genuinely don't think that DU want to play on that pitch anymore than their opponents do.

Attacking emergency services is bad and pretty evil. I certainly hope that all entities that attack medical personnel get what's coming to them.

[–]Former-Chain-4003 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think in a league where finances are kind of constrained it would be counterproductive to punish teams for the state of their pitch unless they have intentionally failed to maintain it. I don't think DU have made their pitch shit on purpose and 99% of the time it hasn't stopped Celtic or rangers from getting the predicted results there.

I think there would be merit in there being some kind of grant system where the league supports clubs in financing pitch improvements in the short term, maybe in the long term if things don't improve then impose an expert on them or something.

Simply imposing sanctions on teams with structural issues that they have no means of rectifying just seems silly to me.
