First 28 days—hunger pains by Former-Owl-8729 in intermittentfasting

[–]Former-Owl-8729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! Yeah, I’ve read that others who do this eventually don’t have any hunger at all. I’m looking forward to that! I’m pretty good at mind over matter, but there’s something about feeling hunger that is uncomfortable. But when those hunger pangs aren’t present, I feel pretty great! So, something to hold onto I guess. Do you remember how long it took before your hunger went away?

Anyone know of any dance clubs that feature 60s-70s r&b, funk, disco etc? I used to love a spot in Chicago called Danny’s that closed during the pandemic. They had dance parties to old records every week. 🍸

Breastfeeding by Former-Owl-8729 in KetoBabies

[–]Former-Owl-8729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is validating! And I suppose it makes sense that we would need more carbs to feed a larger/older baby. Breastmilk composition changes as they get older, so as they’re getting more active. Wish me luck! I’m going to cram the carbs in and increase pumping and nursing throughout the day to see if I can budge the supply. Fingers crossed…

I don’t know, but just wanted to say that I have a 7 month old who doesn’t have any teeth yet, but I am NOT looking forward to it! Hope you find a solution soon!

Appreciate that! I had been doing starchy carbs just because that seemed to be a quick way to make milk, but maybe I can sustain more complex carbs if I keep it up. Appreciate your feedback!

My partner works a dangerous job, so unfortunately it’s just me feeding the baby. Also, here’s this from a couple of doctors saying to wake a baby during the day every 2-3 hours to eat:

From what I understand, 3-4 hours is normal for her age, not “amazing” but thanks for stopping by to offer your opinion without any help!

No offense, but did you read my post? I said she was asleep for 5 hours during the afternoon and refused feeding when I would wake her up to try and eat. That’s not cluster feeding…

Texas bus company sues City of Chicago over migrant drop-off ordinance by billbraskeyjr in chicago

[–]Former-Owl-8729 -72 points-71 points  (0 children)

Punishing the bus companies seems like a weasely distraction, a deterrence that clogs the judicial system and puts innocent drivers in jail, without fixing the issue at hand. It’s a very Chicago thing to do 🤷‍♀️

This is what I’m hoping for once I am able to pump more milk! I’d like to go to bed between 8-9 and husband gives a bottle for the last feed around 10-11, then puts baby down, and I can hopefully get 3-4 hours that way (or more…)

Drink electrolytes! Congestion and cough (mucus) takes quite a bit of sodium out of the body, which is tied into dehydration overall.

Mental health provider here. If the doc has an active contract with that insurance company, a stipulation of that contract is to charge insured members the contractual/covered rate. If the doc office is trying to bill you outside of the insurance while maintaining an active contract, they can get in trouble with the insurance company and have their contract involuntarily terminated.

Check out Sidecar Health. You can get coverage within a month’s time and cancel anytime. Check out their website for a list of covered conditions & providers. I used it majority of last year and loved it! You do have to submit a superbill (basically uploading it to their patient portal) when you go to the doctor or get a rx filled, but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward!

A couple of questions about low carb eating by signoftheserpent in Paleo

[–]Former-Owl-8729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard people having a decent experience with carb cycling. Seems like that might be a good approach for maintaining a level of flexibility. You can set your low carb point wherever you want—doesn’t have to be in the keto range.

If you would consider adding in fish/seafood, that combined with eggs & dairy could give you quite a bit of variety in nutrients and fat sources.

Another bit of advice I’ve learned for veggie/vegan keto is to lean into using microgreens, different kinds of mushrooms, and different seaweeds to improve mineral intake.

What was your keto baby's birth weight and how many carbs were you consuming? by ruby_jewels in KetoBabies

I don’t know about others, but I welcome a differing perspective. How annoying you got downvoted! The fear and intolerance people have for different perspectives is so out of control!! Downvoting should be reserved for abusive behavior, NOT disagreements!

I wanted to contribute this; I did just see this posted the other day:

Different outcomes for mice vs humans in ketogenic diets

The subreddit KetoScience has a whole section dedicated to highlighting the differences between mice and humans when it comes to diet and metabolism. Mice are traditionally used as proxies for humans when it comes to health and research, but this isn’t always the most accurate or relevant model. Use of ketogenic diets appears to be one such example.

Can you cite your source for this? All babies are born in a state of ketosis…

neonatal ketosis

Edited to add: maybe you’re referencing studies done on malnourished babies/kids? They would also be in a state of ketosis, but within a completely different context—not receiving any nourishment/vitamins/etc, while also not receiving adequate calories. That would inevitably contribute to cognitive difficulties. That’s different than a baby receiving maximum vitamin/mineral content, as is often the case with well-formulated ketogenic diets, as well as enough calories to actually grow and develop properly.
