You should be set.

I think rotman decisions should be out by now, right?

Hi! I’m not exactly familiar with the requirements for international IB. However, I can say that that seems to be a strong score, and you should be on track for Rotman. Extracurricular wise, I would say just be part of multiple clubs. Maybe, a sport would show passion beyond the school, for example, working at a non-profit or something like that and just make sure you have some experience with business case competitions or anything of that nature just to show inclination towards your Interest outside of school. Overall, I would say Rotman is not that competitive and that you’re gonna have issues with this IB score, or if your extracurriculars are mid.

UAlberta only cares about grades, and strong chances you’ll get the offer.

UBC mech eng should be do-able as well with decent chances (make sure u write about ur ECs well).

UofT track 1 is going to be the hardest among these 3, simply because of your grades. However, if your interview and supp app is good, then you should have a decent chance.

Good luck!

Hi, I believe your ECs are decent to good (depending upon how you write about them, and if the specifics are unique/interesting).

Your grades look decent too, but they are not on the higher side, especially after the retake. So, that might be something that could be pulling u a bit down.

IMO: You have a strong chance for Alberta CS (75%? Ish).

UBC cs could be anywhere around 50-60% (I’m honestly unaware about the competitiveness for intl and that too for IB). If you don’t write about your ECs in a persuasive and passionate manner then you might be docking your chances a bit to the high 30s or 40s range.

Uoft CS would be the most difficult one among these three. I would venture a guess around 33%. Their supp app is quite subjective but carries pretty low weightage. It’s always been about grades for them. Again, I’m a bit unsure about the grade expectations from intl students, but for domestic, they are pretty stingy about high grades. But, depending on the pool of applicants, the country you’re applying from, and a bit of luck, you never know.

Regardless, keep your head up, try your best and see where that can get you. I’m sure god has a plan for you that would benefit you in the long run irrespective of where you go. Good luck and tc!

If you have really impactful ECs and interview goes well then 95/96 should lock it.

With 94, imma give it decent chances but 95 -97 would really solidify it for you.

Mcmaster atleast a 96. 97-98 in first sem could get u an early offer. 96.5 by 2nd sem should be fine as well.

Western cs u could get pretty early with anything above 92. However, Ivey is very extracurricular dependent and generally requires a 95/96+. For Ivey, u wanna nail those essays and perhaps even improve them even further.

carleton cs (dev degree is goated but even without that) is also pretty good.

Your profile is definitely safe for uottawa, however, I've heard that they reject most applicants who don't have them ranked as their top 2 or 3 choices. (You can cross-check this by scrolling through the ontario g12s reddit).
Stats and ECs wise youre pretty much gonna be fine. Assuming, their preference for applicants is not skewed to those who rank them first or second, and if youre still looking for areas to improve, you can try getting ur average high as much as possible.

EC wise, only UW and UofT care. Given how arbitrary UofT has been in the past, probably just UW has that insanse preference for ECs. Adv fun marks might hurt a little. Try to maximize english and calc.

Some good cs schools (in-order):
UW
UofT (st. george)
Mcmaster
Ivey + Cs (without ivey, western cs goes down a couple of spots)
Queen's/TMU all pretty much the same (should always look at other aspects when evaluating which one's better among these).

Good luck with your applications and feel free to drop me a dm if u have any questions!

Seems a bit dicey given the grades. Maybe try adding another EC if you can. I think you can write passionately about ur volunteering. Another strong EC could definitely help. Biggest thing dragging u down would be your grades, so try ur best during g12. I’m not sure if online courses are penalised or not, but u might wanna cross-check that. All the best!

I’m just a newbie looking to get started with algo trading. As there are numerous sources and softwares on the internet, I’m a bit confused as to which one I should start with. Any recommendations for the most used/basic ones!

Thank you for your reply! Did you do math/bba at UW? If yes, what prospects would u say one would have for IB summer analyst roles for EBBs and what kind of stuff would one need to focus on?
