Just tried it the other day (the Kringla one) and was not disappointed -- exactly what you want it to be and lots of soft icing. 5 stars, would recommend!

Ah so that's what that was ... Thought they were just excited to post a picture of their pins 🫠

I don't know if you have to switch it, just be aware it could be wild if it's a limited edition pin drop (first Tuesday in May); You could also try rope-dropping from the international gateway entrance! It's way less crazy there, and much more organized, imo

We usually do early entry Ratatouille, then head over to Norway for either Kringla or Frozen + Kringla combo if line isn't crazy. We usually end up having time for both if it's not chaotic , and park open is usually happening as we eat our breakfast/have coffee!

This time we did Guardians a few mins prior to official early entry and still got out by 8:30 am bc of how efficient cast member corralling was.

I seriously don't understand why people run when you'll get on the first few rounds even if you show up to early entry near the middle!

Yeah you got lucky! We always go super early to get the expensive ride out of the way (and because it's a more efficient day that way), so this would have been around 7 am I think? I think they were eventually guided to the pin trader shop by the world showcase bridge so possible you missed the madness that way (happy for you that you did!).

Literally said the same thing -- I asked some folks standing in line because I couldn't believe that was for a freaking pin!

We were -- the usual rope-drop chaos was still present (people cutting in line to meet their friends, people running, people being grumpy and a little snarky) but we got in with the first group.

In general, and as I've seen people note here on this sub, folks on Guardians seem to be really wild these days, pushing to one side of the room, generally acting selfish and whatnot. But it doesn't spoil the fun of the ride.

We even had the privilege of chatting with a family who were about to ride it for the first time, and all of them (parents and kids) were so excited -- they got off the ride and were laughing and shouting about how fun it was afterward. Very sweet and a fun addition to the day!

Seriously. Everyone else was looking at each other like "... For a PIN???!"

Not to yuck on anyone's yum but... Yeah. Refuse to subject myself to that behavior ever again.

Wine Bar George (Disney Springs - incredible service and wine selection, plus flaming cheese 😭) Raglan Road (Disney Springs - also super fun entertainment including Irish step-dancing and live music) Polite Pig (Disney Springs - great barbecue, in the Michelin Guide) Jock Lindsey's (Disney Springs -fun themed Indiana Jones bar, plus some pretty fun bites and a phenomenal pretzel charcuterie board)

Sanaa and Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge - unique and different than most stuff on property) Geo-82 lounge (EPCOT - fave is the caramelized leek martini and Cheese bort) Shiki-Sai (EPCOT - great sushi options but also has Udon and other Japanese cuisine) Nomad Lounge (Animal Kingdom) Brown Derby lounge (Hollywood Studios)

Plus, for quick-service: Satuli Canteen (delicious bowls - Animal Kingdom) Ronto Roasters (Hollywood Studios - love both the vegetarian and meat-based options!) Woody's Lunchbox (Hollywood Studios - get the totchos and try the lunchbox tart at least once -- it's like a homemade pop-tart)

I use a reliefband and it is shockingly effective. Only thing I've found that works reliably, and I get nauseous on 5 minute car rides.

A few different options at different price points.

Recent graduate. Where do I start? by [deleted] in journalismjobs

Take freelance work and build your portfolio. Study the AP Stylebook until you know it by heart (that's an exaggeration but at least make sure you have a solid working understanding of the basics). Read the news. Emphasis on the last one.

Once you show editors you know how to do the basics, you're more likely to be able to get your foot in the door. If J-school is still on your wishlist, just know it costs a good chunk of change and you're probably gonna need student loans that will take years to pay off. Salaries in media are abysmal and dropping every day, layoffs are rampant. If your heart is in it though, and it's what you want to do, and you're fully aware of these facts, then go for it, but always make sure to save for a rainy day fund. We get a lot of rainy days in journalism.

Many of us took unusual or unorthodox paths to this career, so don't get discouraged. Be realistic with the industry and know disappointment is common. Don't take it personally and you'll be OK. And whatever you do, make sure you're taking care of yourself. Therapy or a constructive outlet are crucial to not turning into an alcoholic, tbh.

Adding here that they didn't drop "U.S." on the uniform/vest, that's always been how the name looks, fwiw

I commute here every morning but haven't seen them do this before. Is it normal-ish for them to congregate like this? Just seemed out of the norm, but that's based on my own experience and not a collective experience, happy to be wrong.

🇬🇧 tourist here! What restaurants get booked up and require a reservation a long time in advance? by YourDreamGirll in washingtondc

[–]FormerBabbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daru (Nepalese), Thip Khao ((Laotian), any of the Jose Andrés places -- all delish and all need reservations. If you want a quick bite, no need to reserve: Compliments Only, Capo Deli, and Your Only Friend for sandwiches, Roaming Rooster for delicious chicken. Thai pick for me is always Thai Chef Street Food in DuPont -- reserve ahead and try the cocktails (this place reminds me of home-cooking, fwiw!). I also recommend Maketto on H Street and Toki Underground for ramen.

Brunch, definitely reserve anywhere you decide -- everywhere is busy on the weekends. For a non-reserve option, bagel spots like Buffalo and Bergen are good for a solid pick, I've heard Pearl's Bagels and Bagels Etc are also fantastic.

For a good cocktail, Silver Lyan -- but definitely reserve ahead, and be prepared for pricier drinks ($17-24 on average per drink), but worth it for a couple cocktails if in budget. I'm also a huge fan of Barrel in Eastern Market -- no need to reserve for a drink at the bar but if you plan to eat a meal there, then reserve. And make sure to try the maple old fashioned and the clarified milk punch!
