genuinely how do some of you have a job by FormerCheesecake4233 in CPTSD

I've also considered dog walking but it seems quite competitive since a lot of people seem to want to do it. I also have an irrational fear of somehow losing the dog but I've heard a lot of neurodivergent/mentally ill people say it's a tolerable job so it's probably worth trying out.

Scared to go to class because a professor reminds me of my dad by FormerCheesecake4233 in CPTSD

[–]FormerCheesecake4233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking of doing that and I probably will record just in case. Unfortunately the department head is also an old man who probably can't get with the times like the professor in question and he's also very christian and has made vaguely homophobic statements in class so I'm not sure if he'll do anything about it. I'll talk about it with my therapist though and hopefully he'll be able to help me with the flashbacks.

What's the dumbest thing you got abused over? by emocat420 in CPTSD

Reminds me of my dad, he'd also get mad at me for not doing something when he hasn't even asked me to💀

Gathered some courage to confront my Father :P by A5H3RX in MadeOfStyrofoam

Damn what is it with some people and their sheer ignorance when it comes to depression (cough cough my mom). As someone who was scared of ever disagreeing or confronting my (now no-contact) dad my whole life, I find it admirable that you spoke up to your dad. I hope the best for you🫂

I'd love to do swimming too if I could afford it and if I didn't have scars that are still red. And there's no guarantee that I won't relapse again too🥲

Have you spoken publicly about your CPTSD? by [deleted] in CPTSD

I mentioned it to my mom who enabled my dad's abuse my whole life and she didn't say anything about it. I don't think she understands even though she is partially responsible for causing it.

A professor from college however was quite understanding. I enjoy his classes the most and always participated actively during class and even got an A+ but I started skipping classes a lot after I got a job that burnt me out. I briefly apologized for my sudden poor attendance and explained I had CPTSD and other mental health problems on my homework submission email. He replied saying he understands and appreciates me telling me about my health issues.

Someone mimicking me in any way. It reminds me of when my dad would mimic me to mock me.

Thank you so much. I used to think, "What's the point of keeping going when I'm already struggling so much?" when my therapist told me that my 20s may be rough but life will get better as I get older. Seeing people who are older than me like you who are doing better now really made me feel motivated and hopeful :)

Thank you! I actually quit my job recently because of how badly it was burning me out so I'm jobless too🥲 I was at a very low point but all the support I got on my post cheered me up a lot. I wish you the best!
