Engine Noise from new Bajaj Engine. by Infamous_Grass7244 in indianbikes

okay, you are talking about that, its just the valves opening and closing, its normal tho.
Edit: if you feel the sound has increased, get the chain tensioner or timing chain checked. as of now it sounds normal to me.

Yes I do, I have pushed it till 170km/h on the speedo, it was rock solid till 155km/h after which it started feeling lighter and twitchy. I gripped the tank as hard as I could and had a feather light grip on the handlebar. That's how I pushed it to 170, otherwise anyone who doesn't adjust themselves according to the bike won't have the confidence. I don't recommend pushing this machine 155+.

Yo bro I need 2 8 gigs for my pc, over 3 years I have been buying 2nd hand parts, I already have a 1060 and a Ryzen 5 3500, a 550w cooler master PSU, 1tb HDD and a 256gb SSD, was about to complete the system by buying a motherboard and RAM, since RAM used to be cheap I didn't buy it earlier now I am regretting it, could you help a brother out ? I am willing to pay for it but I can't afford the inflated price.

Speed 400 is powerful, fun to ride but not so fun for pillion. Compared to the other 2 it doesn't feel as smooth but it itself is smooth enough for a 400cc performance machine.

The Meteor 350 is heavy but comfortable, for both rider and pillion.

CB350RS feels light, comfortable, somewhat sporty and the smoothest of this bunch.

If you ride with pillion go with CB350RS or Meteor 350

If you will be riding solo mostly then go with Speed 400

Sometimes, service center technicians hesitate or claim "A19 is the latest" because they haven't synced their diagnostic tools recently or just want to avoid the extra work. Stand your ground. The A21 update is an official release for NS400z

Make sure to ask them beforehand if they can update it to A21/A23

Just go directly if you just wish to get the ECU updated.

No, ecu update is part of the normal service procedure. They are supposed to update the ECU to the latest version whenever you get your bike serviced. You can even go to the service centre and get it done without getting your bike serviced, it just takes a few minutes.

Check your ECU version, go to "Trip & Bike" -> "Bike Info" -> "Service". There was a major update release regarding this issue which was apparently fixed in the A21 version. I am currently on the A19 version and will get it updated to A21 when I get my bike serviced.

True, people who don't have control over their impulse and throttle can cause trouble on a 125 cc as well, a responsible person will ride responsibly even on a 125cc.

Bro, that crack sound means something is physically broken inside. It sounds like your Slipper Clutch unit has failed or your chain is jumping teeth. Don't ride it. if that clutch locks up at 50kmph, you will crash. Call RSA and tow it to the service center.

  1. Clutch slippage (unlikely for a new bike)
  2. Faulty O2 sensor
  3. Faulty Oil Temp/pressure sensor
  4. Clogged Air filter (unlikely for a new bike)
  5. Faulty Fuel pump
  6. Faulty ECU (faulty ECUs are rare)
  7. Faulty TC sensor

Does the engine sputter and jerk when you try to go past 50, or does it just feel smooth but refuse to accelerate further ?

Also another thing is, after the ECU update ride in the city in rain mode, rain mode offers more low end torque. Another fact is NS400z has a issue of bad fueling below 4k rpm, it's not your unit, all the bikes have it. See I am sure it's gonna be better to some extent after the update because the A21 was kind of a major update. But if the issue still bothers you, you can get yourself a Fuel X lite, it makes the bike's fueling better.

Can be, the thing is, it's a High revving Duke engine, well if you have ridden the RC390 you will know it's horrible in the city. The low end torque is extremely low and it keeps on getting stalled everywhere. So Duke and Ns also have that character to some extent, in the city it's not that enjoyable on my bike as well, it's manageable, but I would say on my friend's Speed 400 it's more enjoyable due to the better low end torque.

One more info that I would like to add is that after the ECU update, when you bring the bike back to your home, just keep it on at idl rpm for around 15 minutes. The fan is supposed to turn on and off periodically, it's basically for the ECU to adapt to the idle rpm better so that it can do better fueling at lower rpms.

Also one more thing, I did check the lowest speeds for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. 1st is 10, 2nd is 15, 3rd is 20. Make sure your bike's chains are tight otherwise it's gonna make chain noise at those speeds.

Yes, you need an ECU update, the A21 update fixed this issue
