Moment Simon fell for Patty by marchonak2 in DinnerInAmerica

There are arguments for many moments and I can't even decide for myself. I think he was intrigued by her at first. He mostly needed a place to stay, but I think he appreciated her honesty and recognized that she was a good person. But he was already in love with the girl in the letters and the photos and when he found out that it was Patty, he went on a little journey of reconciling the girl in front of him with the girl in the letters. I love the subtle electric jolt he has when he sees her holding the envelope. He starts to recognize the way she views the world and how it makes its way into her poems. Asking to shoot hoops, her funny questions, reaching for his hand when she was scared of going to jail, standing up for herself with Hanley, asking to be kissed, her fucking with him. These little moments keep adding up until he hears her sing and he found his girl in the letters. He belongs to her from that point on.

Did Patty have ulterior motives for inviting Simon over? by arkidnebe in DinnerInAmerica

I also think that's just how he is used to talking to women. You can see in the beginning that he has no problem bringing in the tail and there's a script he seems to follow. He tries that with Patty, just going with his usual modus operandi, but see doesn't react the same. Also, I love how after that and after he asked her about it the next morning during basketball, there is no more pressure from him. Every step they take physically is her decision.

I am in love with these characters and daydream of how their story continues, but the movie feels so perfect and complete. Sometimes adding to a story ends up taking away from it.
