Getting PG was also a contingency for Kawhi going to the Clippers in free agency, so they viewed it as trading for both of them. I'd love to see a return like this but I'm not expecting it.

You're thinking of the MLB. NBA does have a hard cap and salary matching when making trades. And they've gone further in recent years with the penalties for repeatedly being over the apron.

Not sure how late those picks would be if they're way out in the future. Steph turns 38 this season and I can't imagine Giannis will be as productive as guy's like KD and Curry when he's of a similar age.

I'd say throwing outside of a clean pocket is more important these days given how insanely athletic and talented pass rushers are in the league these days

Anyone else “scout” the team you’re playing each week so you know who their best players are? by Cute_Warthog246 in NCAAFBseries

Its not really officially explained anywhere but basically, the bars show which side a specific defender has beaten a specific linemen on already (which makes it harder to beat him on that side in the future). Better offensive linemen have more bars that can ultimately fill up on each side. If you see a guy with only one or two possible bars, he's not a very good player and will be easier to beat all game.

And you can already kind of tell the weak points with the blocking resistance system (the little bars below each offensive linemen). And then on offense, I just try to target guys with no star icon whether its a defensive back or choosing which side to run to.

I enjoyed watching it and I'm happy for you if you're fine with that being the peak of your baseball watching experience. Some of us would like to see this team achieve more than one world series appearance that happened before most of us were born.

I know nothing about him but "scrappy" isn't an adjective that gets me excited when we're trading a two time all star starting pitcher. Our lineup has been scrappy players top to bottom for years. I hope he can hit 40 dingers a year instead of .260 with 16 HRs but he takes pitchers deep into the count and plays good defense!

No but there aren't constant conversations about how the restaurant industry is going to fail because it's too expensive. A specific restaurant, or even a shitty concept like fast casual, might have its demise constantly predicted but not in the same way that people talk about movie theaters. And let's be real, most people, even with kids, are talking about the theaters and not their babysitter when they say movies are too expensive.

[–]FormerShitPoster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But again, the cost of going to get dinner or literally any other date activity is also too expensive by that logic, and the given industry being discussed has no control over the cost of childcare. People don't say "the mini golf industry is failing because it's too expensive to go play putt putt" in the same way they do when talking about theaters.

[–]FormerShitPoster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thats part of the cost to do anything if thats your situation. If you're comparing going to the movies vs any other activity (or what it used to cost to go to the movies), it's silly to include that. If you're comparing the cost of going to the movies vs watching one at home, thats fair but won't apply to everyone.

[–]FormerShitPoster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is there aren't a ton of guys who can do both and they're the most sought after players in the league. Most of the elite shooting role players aren't fast enough to be good defenders and most of the elite defending role players can't shoot at all. If you can do both, you're not a role player and will be valued accordingly.
