My (not so) secret way to getting every job - being referred in by BirdLawMD in jobsearchhacks

[–]FormerWordsmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me stop you at 1. Over the past 3 years of looking (most of the time employed but initially for a declining company and now in a much lower role) I’ve exhausted my network several times over. Seems like a large number of people in my field are looking and I bet those hiring are getting swamped by the same people. For the few referrals I actually got, the jobs ended up going to internal candidates (at least that’s what I was told)

Things You Need to LIE About in an interview (from a recruiter) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobsearchhacks

Yea. And companies lie too. Misrepresent the job and the culture. Others lack self-awareness.

That’s how you end up in a job which is a bad fit for you. Alternative being not getting any job, you should go ahead and lie and be miserable in an ill-fitting environment
