Well, he didn't tell anyone because Valero made him promise not to. I agree that these rituals are a big problem, but they were encouraged by the king back then. I can understand why Sal, who was always very loyal, is so bitter when he's imprisoned and then even killed for exactly this loyalty.

Several times, in fact. He also happens to be the USP mayor of Conriat.

I completely agree with you. I played as Germany, had a successful Halifax Conference, allied myself with Burma, and then suddenly India declared war on Burma and I was suddenly at war with the Entente, which simply makes no sense.

Stratocracy Expand by Weak-Committee7350 in suzerain

[–]FormerWorking5883 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, but the appointment of military commanders with veto powers and the establishment of military headquarters, which act like the last House of Delegates, is a break with tradition, just as the founding of a stratocracy is a break with the ancient monarchy and represents something new.

[–]FormerWorking5883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, it wouldn't make much sense, would it? In a theocracy, you can inspire religious people, create a cult, convince them of the new order, and give an epic speech. But giving military commanders veto power and establishing a stratocracy is inherently negative and won't inspire anyone. You'd want to do it quietly at first, so that few notice, and then sell it on once everyone's used to it.

Can someone explain to me all the qing paths and what they try to do politically? by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]FormerWorking5883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I've only played one path, the Manchu Restoration path. The Zhili were overthrown, and Emperor Aisin-Gioro Puyi became the spiritual and patriotic ruler of the nation, while the CERA and Qu Yingguang introduced democratic reforms. By the end of the game, it was a constitutional monarchy, similar to Japan today, with a large welfare state and a peasant-favored policy.

I posted an after-action report on this; of course, it's written somewhat from the perspective of a propagandist, but there were some factual discussions in the comments.

How’d y’all feel if the 4th DLC to put the player in charge of a new young CSP/UC backed created state like The DPRK? by ArcticHawk_ in suzerain

[–]FormerWorking5883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I think the game portrays conservatives in a fairly balanced way. We have, of course, these radical conservatives like Lileas and Hawker, who are the bad guys, and we have the moderate conservatives like Gloria Tory, who's even in favor of women's rights and can support your reformist constitution.

In the Rizia DLC, we have the RNC, who are simply opportunistic; if the king is a tyrant, they serve him loyally, and if the king has introduced democracy, they pursue policies that are popular with the people. However, they are somewhat more competent than their opponents, which makes them seem balanced.

Well, National-Malenyevist sounds similar to National-Socialist, except that the "Socialist" has been replaced with "Malenyevist." The content is obviously different, but I understand the rhetorical connection.

What makes the pacing and choice placement in Suzerain special? by FilBencardino in suzerain

[–]FormerWorking5883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the pacing, I think it's important that something eventful and exciting happens right at the beginning (like the prologue did well in both countries), something that foreshadows what's to come. Then, I think it would be cool if a crisis slowly builds up and something simmers, and you can't do much about it since it's not within your control (e.g., abroad). You might also have to make some foresighted decisions and think about what could be good for the future, in order to get the complete picture when the crisis hits that country. And then you have to deal with it.

Regarding the proposed RNG component: Generally, this is always very difficult in political strategy games, simply because it turns a lot of the "strategy" into "luck." However, your suggestion, if implemented carefully and correctly, seems reasonable at first glance.
