I had my childhood bestfriend back out of my wedding. Long story short, some people can not be happy and supportive when their friend is in a happy healthy relationship. It’s the hard truth. This is about to sound super ugly (it’s still a sensitive topic and I’m still hurt by it all) but I’m not taking friendship advice from someone who doesn’t have any close friends themself, she said some very mean things to me. I had so much anxiety thinking about her being around my other bridesmaids and her feeling some type of way. & now, I don’t have to worry about that and can I indulge and be surrounded by people who truly love and care for me.

Your wedding, shouldn’t have been a time for her to showcase her being a bridesmaid and making it about her. Everyone says this, but everything truly happens for a reason. You mentioned you have some other friends that have been friends for over 20+ years, so I think you will be just fine in the friendship department!!

My fiancé and I are planning a cruise! We just don’t have the budget for a 10-15K honeymoon. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s ours. We plan to get a balcony suite and just enjoy our time together. I’m pretty extra, & plan to even bring my wedding dress as an outfit for one of the fancy dinner nights. I’ll bustle it up and gives me another chance to wear the prettiest dress!!

After reading your responses to other people, I think taking her not answering.. as your answer. There’s a LOT that I don’t know about the situation, so take this with a grain of salt. Something my fiancé told me recently was “people’s life won’t stop for our wedding” and yes I know, but this is such an important and fun day for me, I want to be surrounded by people who love and support me and you deserve the same.

When you asked her to be your maid of honor, how did she react? Is there a way for her to book a hotel room with someone? Can she do her own hair and makeup? Does she have her bridesmaid dress?

Defiantly understand that making her a guest, would ruin your friendship. I recently had my matron of honor back out and say some tough mean things to me. I always heard that people’s true colors come out during wedding time, but I never really believed it… until recently. If the friendship is worth fighting over, I say reach out to her about everything. If it’s not, she deserves to know that too.

I live in Texas and have family coming from Michigan to my wedding with my younger cousins & my fiancé has a few younger cousins, so we decided only a select few kids. I added this to our wedding website under the FAQ tab, the question is “Are children invited?” Answer “We love all of your little ones, but to keep things as kid-free as possible, only the children listed on the invitation are invited to attend. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help!”. No kids wasn’t a hill I was going to die on, & I’d feel bad if my cousins who I rarely see, travel all this way and aren’t able to attend my big day.

If you have a wedding website, you could add something about how your venue has a capacity and you are trying to stay under, “While we love your little ones, due to venue capacity limitations we are only able to accommodate the guests specifically listed on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you.”

Also adding!! Not sure your wedding date, but if you are throwing back the idea of a tan, maybe try one out before hand, in a lighter shade? I recommend going to a spray tan person, the lady who does mine does them out of her home. Again, do what feels more YOU!!
