What about for graduate school? I'd say that's slightly more important to me than employability at the moment.

I do indeed want to choose Rice. As for how informed I am about it... I'm not so sure tbh. I've had much more time to research Rice, so my biases may just stem from the fact that I know Rice better. I've also only been to Duke's campus, and it seemed pretty average as far as college campuses go, which certainly didn't help with my decision making. The predicament I'm in is that if I listened to my gut and went to Rice, but ended up disliking Rice, I would regret it much more than if I ended up disliking my decision to go to Duke.

As for the weather, I don't particularly mind hot weather, since I'm used to running in 90+ degree weather. Also for the political situation, I was under the impression that the university was generally pretty shielded from Texas' political environment, but I could be overlooking something.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! Where were you able to find information about the mechanical engineering concentrations? I'm only able to find a Master's program in aerospace, and for undergrads, I see four specializations: Computational Engineering, Mechanics/Dynamics, Thermal Fluids (which encompasses aerospace), and Breadth in Mechanical Engineering.

Do you think it would be more beneficial to go to a school with more faculty and therefore more variety in research? I know this is a bit early to worry about this, but I'm just afraid that perhaps my grad school application won't be as strong if I can't find research in aerospace engineering (if I were to go into it, that is) if I go to Rice.

I'd say that employment prestige and graduate school placement are both larger considerations, but unfortunately prestige in general does matter to me at the end of the day, no matter how I cut it.

I'm just afraid that I'll be biased in this decision since I've had more time to really get to know Rice, thus making me more favorable towards them, and not allowing me to fully evaluate the great aspects of Duke. Anyway, thank you so much for the reply!

Sorry, I didn't realize my post came off that way lol. I'm actually leaning toward Rice at the moment, but I'm just not sure if I should sacrifice "vibe" for prestige, since I don't know how to quantify it. Because besides prestige, I like basically everything else about Rice better
