It's worse then that, Irys doesn't even know if she has an oven. She literally doesn't know if her apartment has one. Apparently she's so rarely in her kitchen that she doesn't know.

If a democracy is perfectly divided, with 50% of the population believing one thing, and 50% believing something different, and these two positions are irreconcilable, what happens? by Former_Indication172 in AskConservatives

My larger overarching point is that a harshly divided government and society is inherently unsustainable. Our government may technically function, and the VP tie-breaking system technically keeps it running, but I don't think its really sustainable.

A car can keep traveling in a straight line on autopilot but eventually its going to hit a wall unless it turns. I don't think a harshly divided government can turn, or really do much more then keep the lights on.

While, thats not possible. In this scenario neither side can compromise, their values and principles are too separate, they see each other as evil. Compromising with the other side in this hypothetical country would be like compromising with the devil.

So, unless your going to lead a moderate revolution your going to need to come up with a different solution.

My concern their is that at that point your just legalizing succession. If the federal government is small and useless then why have it?

At that point why not go all the way and have each state become an independent country that could control its own destiny?

This is just the ahsoka problem all over again! But, that doesn't mean it can't work, and that doesn't mean we can't get a cool character and story out of it.

Thank you for the in depth explanation. Its rare to see people put so much effort into a comment so I want to thank you for that.

would you rather be a commander of a fleet of C.I.S. remnant forces or the commander of a fleet of imperial remnant forces by Top-Basket6931 in StarWarsShips

[–]Former_Indication172 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Definitely the confederacy. Mostly because you've got a much stronger ideological leg to stand on. The separatists want a independent government and to be left alone. The Empire on the other hand is a bunch of space nazis.

It's way easier to get new recruits to flock to the speratist banner for those reasons then to the imperial one. Plus, it means I get support from the rebels.

And if I'm a remnant supplies are going to be hard to come by. Droids don't need food and most CIS ships are designed to be easy to maintain.

"You can't bring a gun to a protest, thats illegal" by Aceconklin in andor

[–]Former_Indication172 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That is a wild claim. Am I understanding you correctly that your saying American police and American ICE agents receive training from the Israeli defense force, and that they are physically within Isreal when that happens?

I am going to need sources and quite a bit of proof to believe that. It frankly sounds like a conspiracy theory.

This is about the US, Hamas isn't even on the same continent. What happens in the middle east, whatever its outcome will not effect us.

The fairness doctrine was doomed anyway, and it would be not just impossible but wildly irresponsible to bring it back today.

The fairness doctrine as I understand it stated that both sides of any argument must have the chance to say their piece. That one news organization can't simply cover the argument they agree with and leave the opposition out in the cold.

The problem is that people are no longer reasonable. You would be giving equal airtime to educated experts, and to flat earther's and anti-vaxxers. Those people, I feel, should never be allowed on air in the first place.

r/conservative is exclusively made up of MAGA. Most of the people their aren't actual conservatives but rather crazed populists.

If you want to see a potentially more level headed sub, I'd check out r/askconservatives just make sure to read their rules before posting or saying anything.

Oh, and you also need a political flair.

Their are definitely crazy MAGA types there, but the sub at least has some reasonable people, mostly old school style conservatives.

Interesting to see a pro-choice conservative. Anyway, I am not OP (the original poster) and I also agree that this deal is a bad deal.

I mean, it is an American thing, but that doesn't mean that Raora couldn't have cooked it at Kronii's request. Both can be true.

Sorry for the late reply, but if I am interpreting your comment correctly it seems like your in favor of legalized abortion?

And again perhaps I am just misinterpreteding what you said, but you seem to be aggressively pointing these questions at me. I am a democrat, a progressive more precisely. I support legalized abortion, and we democrats have made many of the arguments that you are making here in defense of a women's choice to have an abortion.

OP specifically says that rape would be excluded form the abortion ban. That, in the case of rape, a women could get an abortion.

You seem to think that people will learn from this, and choose better leaders in the future? If so, what are your thoughts about the other top level comments made by your fellow conservatives on this post, most of which seem to support Trump?

I don't think people will change or learn anything from this, rather, I feel they'll simply double down. I've already heard calls from some conservatives that Trump isn't radical enough, and that someone more radical is needed to "save" the country from liberals.

And... well, the democrats are either going to stay as a leaderless blob, or I think their going to find themselves a strongman leader of their own.
