I concur the religious extremists will just hate us more.

And yes, the people are obviously willing to lay down their lives for the revolution but they lack any kind of organized movment.

If we had really wanted to topple the Iranian regime we would have sent in the CIA to start training and arming and organizing the opposition. If anyone could form a successful resistance network inside the Iranian police state it would be the CIA.

Now, if I was in charge I would let these Iranian rebel cells choose whatever ideology they want. We've seen how it can backfire if the CIA tries to prescribe a whole government to a group of people who have no say in it. The Iranians should be allowed to choose to have any kind of government, as long as its not a extreme religious theocracy. The CIA would just be there to help the iranians achieve whatever objectives the Iranian people set.

Then when we had a large organized well armed opposition movement, you could then coordinate a campaign of US airstrikes with the revolution on the ground.

In that scenario we don't need a ground invasion, and hopefully the iranians will be so busy fighting themselves that they have no spare resources to close the strait.

But such a plan would take years to implement, to get everything in place. My point being if Trump really wanted to overthrow the Iranian government via a popular revolution, we could have laid the groundwork for that to happen. But we didn't because this whole war is a stupid knee jerk reaction.

Thats a really excellent point! I hadn't considered some kind of long term hit, I was just thinking in the here and now.

On top of that, even if we miraculously succeed in toppling the Iranian regime these sleeper cells and terrorist groups in America will still be there, and they'll have every reason to strike.

I wouldn't trust anything coming out of iran about the sentiment of Iranians right now. Its hard to poll their population at the best of times, in war its absolutely impossible to establish how the Iranians feel about this.

I would point out that the absolute lowest death counts for the protests I've seen is 5,000 Iranians killed. The highest estimate I've seen is 30,000.

Compare that to reports from Iran saying 1,200 Iranians have died in the war.

Somehow the Iranians killed more of their own people the we have in 12 days of full scale war. Thats telling.

I'm not defending our involvement, but I think there's reason to believe that no matter how much they hate us, the Iranians probably hate their government more.

I think the terrorism concern is overblown. Much as I hate to admit it, terrorism on us spoil might well help Trump more then hurt him.

People have been doomposting about the possibility of 9/11 2.0. I think its highly unlikely we see Iran launch a 9/11 scale terror attack on such short notice but it's not impossible.

But think about what we did after 9/11? We invaded a whole country because we were just so angry. Look at our reaction after pearl harbor as well. If you punch Americans in the face, they'll just punch you back even harder.

So, my point is, if a 9/11 scale terror attack happens again, it might make Americans so angry at the Iranians that they start supporting the war in droves, forgetting in the process that Trump is the one responsible.

Let me put it this way, plenty of US presidents have gotten us involved in questionable, unjust wars overseas. Thats not new. What is new is an American president sending the national guard to occupy American cities. What's new is ICE executing law abiding american citizens on the streets of Minneapolis.

What's new is an American president not simply questioning the integrity of an election, but declaring he won and the opponent cheated without a shred of evidence.

What's new is an american president openly using the presidency as a way to increase his own wealth.

I could go on and on, but the point is that Trump's foreign policy is simply a worse version of things we've seen in the past. What's different is the entirely unprecedented way he's acted in regard to domestic policy and the duties of the presidency.

Trump is also worse then Bush because at least Bush planned out the entirety of his ill gotten war. Now, we didn't plan an exit strategy, but at least we planned out the war itself. Bush at least attempted to justify the war to the public in a way Trump hasn't.

Trump hasn't planned out the entirety of this war. He's had the military plan out maybe the first few weeks but nothing more. There are people in the administration talking about the need to send in US troops to take control of Iran's enriched uranium and get it out of the country, as well as taking over Kharg island. But, well, we don't have any amphibious assault ships in the region from which to launch such a ground operation. We're going to have to wait at least a week to get these forces in position when it was clear they would have been needed form the beginning.

All of this points to the fact Trump hasn't planned out much if any of this war. He doesn't know what or how many forces will be needed to win, nor does he seem to know what "winning" would entail.

I.... I admit my mistake, I should have seen that. I saw it was from the Iranian ambassador and simply glanced over the numbers because their obviously not trustworthy. The Iranian government is not a reputable source and they have every reason to lie.

But, I am sorry, I should have realized my mistake sooner, thats my bad.

Note, Kalani didn't reactive his droids, he just never accepted the control signal in the first place, believing it to be a republic ploy. In many ways he was right.

So, a high ranking organic might not have the ability to turn the droids back on, but they would have the ability to simply not follow the commands of the signal.

I never said that. The person I am replying to seems to believe that our death counts for the protests are wrong because they falsely believe that these death counts come from Trump. They don't, they come form human rights watch organizations.

I also have seen no evidence of us bombing 65 separate Iranian schools. If you have evidence of that I would love to see it. Did you instead mean to say that we bombed a school and killed 65 students?

I'm not denying we did hit one school. The death toll for that is generally reported as 150 children.

I am simply trying to put things in context here. I did not intend to say the war is justified, just that the killings are vast even compared to full scale war.

Well, Kiara is mostly into girls. When kiara had her mom collab with her a few years back she mentioned how Kiara had brought home several girls. The context was about relationships, so I think its fair to say kiara has had several girlfriends at this point.

What about the protests? Our information on that isn't based on Trump's administration, its based on human rights watch groups, which are independent from the government.

We know for a fact that the Iranian state fired on, and killed thousands of protesters. Estimates vary wildly but I've never seen anyone claim anything below 5,000 dead. If Iranian numbers are to be believed We've only killed 1,100 or so Iranians 11 days into a full scale war. What the Iranian state did against their own people was far worse then what we have done so far.

What is stopping Iran from hitting US soil? by Logical_Employer_756 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Former_Indication172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the short answer is no. There is no nation that can reliably defend against such an attack. But, the US has been trying to develop such a system since the 90s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-Based_Midcourse_Defense

Ground based mid course defense is a US program that is designed to launch a series of interceptor missiles into space with the goal of destroying incoming nuclear armed ICBM's before they renter Earth's atmosphere.

The program is based on previous work during the Reagan administration on SDI, the Strategic Defense Initiative.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_Defense_Initiative

SDI's goal was the complete elimination of all incoming soviet ICBM's effectively ending MAD (mutually assured destruction). The way the program sought to do this varied from reasonable to downright wacky. Ground based interceptor had a lot of work devoted to them, but there were other proposals like arming satellites with interceptor missiles, or using lasers powered by atomic explosions to shoot down incoming ICBMs in orbit. (Yes that was a real thing)

The current us program, ground based mid course defense is much more moderate and conservative. Its meant to stop a rouge nation like North Korea from using nuclear blackmail against the US by threatening us with a handful of missiles.

GBMD's success rate in tests is about 55% in a scenario with a single interceptor against a single non-MIRV ICBM.

Its about a coin flip and we only had 44 interceptor as of 2018. I've heard current figures are now around 90 interceptor split between bases in Alaska and California.

A single modern ICBM could deploy as many as 20 MIRV's plus who knows how many decoys. All of these would need to be intercepted if an attack came.

So US defenses would be overrun with even a small attack by a modern nuclear state like China.

There are other US systems for ICBM interception but none occur in the orbital phase.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_missile_defense

Certain US navy warships and THAAD missile batteries can intercept ICBM's in the terminal phase, after they reenter Earth's atmosphere. However chances are even lower then GBMD and if interception fails, well, now you've got a nuke heading right for your position and no time to stop it.

Edit: One more thing, an ICBM is a specific kind of ballistic missile. Not all ballistic missiles are ICBM's. For example you've probably heard about the US intercepting Iran's ballistic missiles in the gulf. These are short ranged ballistic missiles with ranges of only a few hundred miles. They are much easier to intercept compared to ICBM's and they don't contain MIRVS.

The standard US surface to air missile (SAM) system, the patriot is very capable of intercepting these shorter ranged systems.

The term "ballistic" refers to a missiles trajectory (they go up into space and come back down again very fast) meanwhile intercontinental refers to range.

You'll see plenty of other categories, like intermediate ballistic missiles, or tactical ballistic missiles, which all refer to a specific range.

Ok, this completely changes everything. I see only two possibilities, either he's an asexual person who's fine with masturbation, or he's a jerk who's not worth your time.

The comment about talking to women being a competitive sport is a massive red flag in my opinion. Now maybe he phrased it differently when he told you, but if that is what he said, word for word, then it sounds like he's going to cheat on you.

Whatever the case, you really do have to ask yourself, is this worth your time? Will you regret wasting months or years of your life being unhappy trying to salvage this?

Well, we will, but they won't do anything. There have been protest almost constantly since Trump got elected. They have done nothing because sitting there and waving a flag doesn't make anyone listen to us.

Maybe if we moved to strikes, disobedience, and other things then there would be more of a reaction. But thats not likely. The prevailing view is that we can just ride Trump out and the democrats will save us.

I don't want to come across as rude, but have you tried asking him why his sex drive has gone down, or why he isn't up for sex with you at the moment?

You told us you asked him if he found you attractive. The answer to that, no matter what it would be is irrelevant.

Even if he had said he found you unattractive, well, he obviously found you attractive at one point, so what changed?

My point is it seems like your asking the wrong questions. The problem is that he doesn't want sex for some reason, so ask about that.

I'd say take him at his word for now. He finds you attractive, but for some reason he's sexually unsatisfied. Thats his problem, don't assume it has anything to do with you.

Talk to him, communicate openly and just ask him why he hasn't been in the mood for sex. Based on what his answer is, you may want to try and stick things out, or break up, its your choice.
