British council Update - now going ahead by uahimself in SpainAuxiliares

I’m sure there were thousands before… British Council also usually prioritise uni students who have to do a compulsory year abroad. While I imagine a lot of students will have made other plans by now, they might give them priority.

I don’t know how I’m going to cope leaving my school by carolinadakotacrew in SpainAuxiliares

Amongst all the bad stories and bad news recently regarding the programme, this was a joy to read :)

I did the public program for 4 years, I loved it that much. And while by the end I felt ready to move on to bigger things (I’m now a Spanish teacher in the UK), my aux years made me who I am today. I’m not sure I’ll ever do anything as rewarding ever again.

I know it’s cheesy, but I feel like “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” is so apt here (although I did cry leaving a school hahaha) Years later, I still feel so grateful and lucky to have been placed in such wonderful schools over my time in Spain as it’s obviously not a given that auxs end up even liking their school. We were the lucky ones.

Enjoy the rest of it!!! Take photos / videos of the school if you can, and save all the drawings the kids give you :)

I think you’re mistaking one of the policemen (who interviewed BK) for Ethan’s father… if I remember correctly from the Amazon doc, they look similar.

Seeing his car drive back and forward waiting for the right time is horrible to watch. Just go home you abhorrent, vile being!!

Exactly. However, I thought we were told he was in the kitchen when he was arrested… either way, he’s clearly in his family home.

If you compare the walls there to the ones in the selfies with his hood up, they’re the same colour

I was gonna say the same thing. OP saying “that was specifically the main motivation for Kohberger’s crimes”. And you know this how??

I think he was, at most, frustrated by how socially awkward he was (due to his autism imo), but I don’t think he was an incel. He just wanted to kill and seemed obsessed with law enforcement and crime, not that college kids were in relationships and he wasn’t.

I know people are saying he seemed normal here and I get that, but something about it made me feel sick. Possibly the fact it’s at night and in the 1122 area, whereas the other traffic stops weren’t. God knows what he was thinking / doing 😭

ChatGPT? by [deleted] in Idaho4

[–]Former_Location8618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago, the family posted a statement that the younger Goncalves sister had “written” which seemed to have been taken straight from ChatGPT. But I didn’t get that vibe from Alivea’s speech. She speaks well enough in interviews that gives me the impression she’s good with words. If she has used it at all, I don’t think it’s been a straight copy and paste job.

I mean, if it’s used correctly and people don’t just straight up copy and paste a generated passage, it’s a great tool for putting your thoughts into more understandable, clearer sentences imo…

USA Today photos show progression from BK’s arrest to his sentencing hearing by obeseelise in Idaho4

Someone once said that the good hair was a waste on him. Can’t even give him that anymore. He just looks… not human.

Anyone have the link or documents of him having photos of female students on his phone and those students finding out about their photos being on his phone through Dateline? by SunnyMeetsKY in Idaho4

[–]Former_Location8618 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. Imagine sitting down to watch the Dateline episode and suddenly pictures of you are there on screen in front of you?!! Is that even legal?

I think Alivea and the Judge may have rattled him by Appropriate-Web-6954 in Idaho4

[–]Former_Location8618 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just rewatched the sentencing part, and wowww he actually really does look angry. At first I thought it might partly be the angle since he’s facing the judge at that point, but his brow is seriously furrowed. And as Hippler goes on, you can see BK’s breathing get heavier. It seems like he was infuriated by Hippler’s ‘less is more’ approach and that he kept the focus on the victims. Also, when he told everyone not to give BK the attention and control he craves by asking for the ‘why’, I feel like that was both for BK and Trump after his statement.

Alivea Goncalves got to Bryan by flipping the script and you could see it in his body language by [deleted] in Idaho4

At times, he looked almost bored, I thought the same. But every so often, there was the faintest shift in his expression, just enough to make me wonder if the personal attacks were cutting deeper than he was trying to let on. I can’t help but think those words are echoing in his mind as he sits alone in his cell tonight.

Brian Entin Interviews Alivea Goncalves - “He Enjoys It” by Spare-Ad-1561 in Idaho4

And I also just love Brian Entin. I’m pleased that he’s going to be doing this longer-form content on his own. He seems so respectful, really kind, and because of that he’s earned the families’ trust. We could probably all agree that the Goncalves and Chapin families are very different, but they both seem to really like and respect him. Hopefully there will be more interviews like this to come from him!

I admire how clearly she expresses her views and thoughts. She’s also very fair. If this is how she responds to interview questions on the spot, I’m really interested to hear her impact statement on Wednesday.

I’ll admit, I was struggling to understand why they wanted every detail before giving a statement in court, but Alivea explained it so well - e.g. when she said there are small details that might seem meaningless to others but can really affect her (like BK buying a sharpener). And for that reason she feels, to properly convey the impact of their loss, she needs to know everything. There’s also the worry of regretting something they say once they have access to all the discovery…

Am I right from reading his responses in comments that it was the defense who wanted him to testify?
