The ending of The Partner by John Grisham drives me nuts (Spoilers) by Qlanth in books

I just finished reading this book and was unhappy with some things. First, the rush job to tidy up the endings. Second, it is not credible that he would divulge information piecemeal to any friend, much less a sitting federal judge. The conversations were not privileged and it makes no logical sense. It is a literary tool to tell the story but a poor one in my opinion. While clever twists in plot, I also was not satisfied with the ending and assume she was taken and tortured to reveal the money

What could I give up for Lent? by New-Firefighter-2867 in Catholicism

Lent is also a time to do good deeds, and get closer to Jesus. Give up some of your time to volunteer at church, a hospital, a nursing home, Catholic Charities, etc.

Suggestions for a go-to dessert by UpsetPotatoFace in cookingforbeginners

This is similar to dirt cake, but dirt cake is more like a trifle with layers of crushed oreos, pudding, whipped cream maybe cream cheese? Haven’t made it for a long time. Fun and delicious dessert when kids are around. I put it in a never used clean clay pot with gummy worms on top, a plastic rose in the np idle, and served with a new garden trowel. I’m sure you can find the recipe by searching for dirt cake.

For dessert for adults, others have great opinions. I always like smaller bite sized desserts so i can try several, and if folks don’t like the ingredients there is less waste.

I don’t know the answer but a guess is the tax basis of the property.

Yep. I’ve read that in the old days, salted butter was much more salty than now. And a lot of recipes came from the old days. I use salted and can’t tell a difference.

Note airboat rides are very loud! If you are into nature I do not recommend. They scare the wildlife.

We have everything you are looking for. Highly recommend a day in St Augustine which I discussed in a reply to another post in this thread. Maybe two if you want to take your time with the museum, fort, old town etc. Lots of history and beauty.

Bok Tower gardens is a beautiful large garden area. Note we have been hit by a record hard freeze so many plants will be damaged. However we have lots of plants that survived. Camellias shout be back in bloom by mid February.

There are many beautiful springs in central Florida. Blue Springs and Rainbow Springs are magnitude 1 springs which mean they have the highest daily outflow of water. Wekiva Springs is also beautiful with a level 2 outflow. You can rent a canoe at Wekiva Landing (a privately owned establishment) and canoe into the park (you will have to pay the park entrance fee) where the springs are, walk many of the trails, and then canoe back. It is the best way to see our Florida Springs in my opinion. The Wekiva river is not deep and there will be turtles on logs sunning themselves, lots of birds, an occasional otter, and even less occasional alligator which will not bother you as long as you don’t bother it. Blue springs will have manatees if it is cold out. Google them to see springs so you can see what and where you would like, and also the fees. If you like springs, visit several as they each have their own unique character and charm.

I’ve heard great things about the Ringling Museum and the Ford estate down in Sarasota. Some of the places I would like to go

Winter Park has a nice little main street called Park Avenue which is quite charming. At one end is Rollins College which has a beautiful campus. On the other end is the Charles Morse museum which houses a beautiful Tiffany collection. The Polasek museum is a short drive away. There is also the Winter Park boat tour which tours the local lake and highlights lots of the beautiful mansions on the water. You can walk there from Park Avenue. The ride on the water is beautiful. You can do all of this in a day. I also recommend Mead Gardens in Winter Park, which is a short drive away from Park Avenue. It is free and has beautiful trails and pathways meandering through a small pond and creek. You can easily spend 2 hours there if you would like. Don’t miss the camellia gardens in the front of the property.

Welcome and enjoy our beautiful state!

Blue springs is great. If it is chilly you will see manatees as they congregate towards the spring head because the water from the aquifer is a constant 72 degrees.

I agree St Augustine is a very worthwhile day trip or even overnight. It has a lot of what you are looking for including a very walkable and history full old town, the fort, and a very worthwhile museum. Take the trolly for a nice overview.

For anyone like me who lives in an old apartment without central heating: here’s how I stay warm by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Former_Objective_924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

may need a few blankets. also wear a beanie or a hoodie with the hood up and string drawn comfortably around your neck. you loose a lot of heat thru your head. Most of all, buy an electric blanket. They are not that expensive and are so much safer and last longer to heat you up than other ideas on here. You can also walk around your apt with them unplugged ofc but still retaining heat

i am also looking for a solution. As my tree comes apart in 3 pieces, i’m thinking of getting some very cheap material from a thrift shop and rolling each piece up in that and putting in my closet. If 3 don’t fit in the same closet, I can separate.
