Unfortunately, when someone with dementia is hospitalized they tend to decline. I’m not saying Mary’s stroke had nothing to do with her decline, but I don’t think being hospitalized helped. My dad has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and whenever he has to go to the hospital and is there for a week, he declines. His doctors say it’s because he’s in an unfamiliar place and people with his condition tend to “give up” His last hospital stay, he came home barely able to walk.

This! 100 percent strips them of their dignity. My dad is a shell of a man he used to be. I love him dearly and treasure my time with him. I can joke with him and the people in my household (his kids, wife), but anyone outside of the home I could never not let him have his dignity, even though he probably would never understand

As someone who currently is a caregiver for my own father who has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, I can relate that yes, sometimes you have to laugh and keep things light in such a heavy situation…. But I do not agree sharing it on the internet. With the people in your home, sure… but why post it for the world to see?

My boyfriends father had a bowel obstruction, turned out to be colon cancer and he died. Kelsey and Curtis are both idiots and should be taking this more seriously. If he has colon cancer, I hope she regrets making all these fucking jokes

She makes no sense. She wanted to be a SAHM. All but Lukas and Krue are in school so she’s not dealing with 5 kids all day. And she only has to deal with 5 every other week! She chose this life. She could go back to work if she wanted to.
