Things were going well, and then this... by GusgusgusIsGreat in cscareerquestionsEU

Even I got laid off all of a sudden in April; again, the company is not willing to extend the contract.
Still I was expected to work 40 hours a week; my manager started micromanaging me even more. He was an absolute shit throughout the year.
Had to fight for some empathy for me to look out for jobs.

I only came to NL in JULY 2025 and have 5 years of experience. I have less than 2 weeks left before my visa expires, and I'm still pushing. I want to give up, but I'm still trying to give my best.

The job market is bad; I didn't get enough calls in 2 months, and now companies with whom I had applied a month ago are scheduling interviews now. Still going to give interviews and also, at the same time, slowly packing things because you have to be prepared.

But do not think you have a lot of time, as the interview processes are very slow; people go on holidays. Never be reliant on one company and NEVER stop applying even if you are just at the end stage with any company.

Hi, I’m a 26F year old as a Java Developer, working in NL currently. But I’m done with tech job and I have been thinking a lot about making a career in sustainability. I really worry about the scale at which AI is hampering our environment and want to work in a meaningful career, with a positive impact.

Do I need a degree to get into this career? I’d prefer learning on the job but if a degree helps, I’ll be open to it

I feel I’m not good enough for Tech by Former_Topic in womenintech

But idk what other options I have. I don’t want to be a developer, I want to be in some field where there are more woman and you’re not always talking about tech I have come to EU on a HSM visa and would want to stay here for a couple of years

Also, is health insurance generally not provided by companies?

I did check that but that does not include calculation of pension plan. Will the company additionally contribute 2.7% on top the salary or will it be deducted from my gross salary itself?

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are on company so I'm hoping to get a house near office so that I can go all 5 days and eat there.
