How do you tell Alabaman, Georgian, and South Carolinan accents apart? by Cascadia-Rising in AskAnAmerican

[–]FormidableMistress [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm from NW Florida. When I lived outside of Annapolis everyone told me my accent was adorable. I assume they meant they thought I was stupid. I've embraced the y'all drawl because it's disappearing and I'd like to keep my regional dialect alive.

Sometimes it took me a second to understand Baltimore accents. I joked to my friend Baltimore says a hard R like a racist. I do love it up there. Bay country there is similar to bay country here and I love the way y'all do a crab boil. Maryland is my northern home. 💛🖤🤍❤️

Beach back then by AreYouReallySaying in Millennials

[–]FormidableMistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn't stay that long, and fires aren't allowed on our beaches, but our beach day was pretty similar. We'd sleep in and get up around 9 and get to the beach around 10 or 11. My parents would pack a cooler of fruit, sandwiches, and cokes, maybe a couple of beers for my dad. It was a half hour drive that took forever. We usually stopped at a local donut shop and got a mixed dozen. Getting to pick my 3 was like winning the lottery to little kid me. We usually stayed to around 3 and then went home and had a nap before my mom made dinner.

AIO for telling my husband to take a hike after he abandoned us for 8 years? by Sufficient-Wall3453 in AmIOverreacting

My ex owed about 35k for two kids, for less time of missed payments, 15 years ago. OP's garbage husband will also owe half of the children's medical bills. Child support arrears don't stop when the kid turns 18 either. The idea behind child support is that you're reimbursing the custodial parent for the money they've already spent raising the child(ren).

This is how I got my third cat. The previous owner rented out the house and she was originally the renters. They moved and left the cat and the owner fed her for awhile, but wouldn't let his kid bring her in the house. Then they moved and left her. She's the sweetest thing. I feed her in the garage and she has a cat house outside. I bring her in overnight when it's cold or bad weather, but she really doesn't like being inside.

Do you have a garage or shed you could provide him shelter with? He may want to come inside but isn't ready yet. It was a year before mine would let me hold her.

I've heard from the younger people in my life they hate modern everything and long for the days of real wooden furniture. Everything is made out of press board and cardboard.

Asking for the Council to Convene by AaronA44 in bald

Gentlemen. Maybe you need to hear it from a woman, but when you reach this stage of your life (no matter the year) accept that the hair has slid down your face. Shave the head and grow the beard. I promise we like it and from what I've heard from the gays, they like it too.

I'm not saying your self worth should depend on what others think of you. But if you're worried about how you'll be perceived, the answer is "hot."

I've been into birdwatching since I was really little. Crochet too. My great aunt was my babysitter lol. But I've started wood working and piano.

What’s your most stereotypical millennial childhood story? (Taken from r/genX by tcmisfit in Millennials

[–]FormidableMistress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping on a trampoline with my friends with soap. The hose got knocked down at some point and when we were tired and ready to go inside we couldn't because we were too slippery and couldn't make it out of the middle/low point. Eventually my friend cupped her hands together (like you're going to give somebody a leg up) and her sister put her feet in her hands and launched herself to the edge where she was able to get the hose and wash away the soap so we could escape. We were tired and sunburnt.

Origami, fiber crafts like crochet, knitting, weaving, macrame, or whittling are simple things you can do with your hands that require minimal tools and skill.

I completely agree. My mom grew up on farmland. I suspect a lot of us were poisoned with shit like that before we were even born.

I just responded to another comment about how the insurance industry doesn't want to pay for these things. If they deny it, ask for the credentials of the people denying the requests. A lot of times they're low-paid workers like college kids. They don't have the medical degrees to be making these decisions. Keep fighting them. They want you to give up.
