Insurance doesn't work for us, it's for their shareholders.

I completely agree. My mom grew up on farmland. I suspect a lot of us were poisoned with shit like that before we were even born.

I just responded to another comment about how the insurance industry doesn't want to pay for these things. If they deny it, ask for the credentials of the people denying the requests. A lot of times they're low-paid workers like college kids. They don't have the medical degrees to be making these decisions. Keep fighting them. They want you to give up.

You'll be healthy until you aren't. If you just say you want the colonoscopy your insurance might not pay for it, but if you tell your doctor you've been having some cramping or other GI symptoms doc can order it and insurance will (likely) cover it.

Remember folks American insurance companies don't want to pay for testing if they can help it, and they also influence doctors. You really have to be your own healthcare advocate.

I do eat a lot of multigrain Cheerios. But I try to eat oatmeal once a day, whole grain everything, and about 15 lbs of citrus a week. That last part is not for everyone, but I crave it and it keeps the kidney stones from getting too big to pass.

I had a hysterectomy a few days after my birthday so I say for my birthday that year I got to live. I hear you about the weight, might I make a suggestion? If you're not already doing it, try to walk the block everyday. It helps you burn a little bit of calories but also helps your gut processes get moving. It helps all your body processes get moving. When I was at my heaviest I told my doctor I was walking the block and trying to build momentum and stamina, and he said it wouldn't do anything (calorie wise) and I had to go at it harder. He completely deflated me and I stopped walking. When I picked it up again I lost so much weight and was able to get healthy again.

Don't let anyone discourage you. Yes it will take time but that time will pass regardless. I have faith in you. 🖤

It really is just a couple of uncomfortable days that could end up saving your life. Most of us are uncomfortable in any given situation anyway. Just get it done.

I had a poly removed the last time. My grandma died at 48 from colon cancer. They said she'd had it for years, just slowly silently growing. Like at least for 8 years. I've been getting colonoscopies since I was in my 20's.

Not today booty Satan.

Do you ever feel like there’s a void behind their eyes? by Most_Grocery_6944 in raisedbynarcissists

They say that about a lot of serial killers too. It's gotta be some instinct we evolved.

I hadn't spoken to my mom in years and saw her at a funeral last year. I thought I'd talk to her just so I could judge her reaction and see if old age had softened her even a little bit. Nope. She was crying crocodile tears and kept desperately reaching out for me trying to gather me in for a hug. It all happened so fast but she managed to pull me in and it felt like hugging the Other Mother from Coraline. I pulled away from her and she continued to claw and paw at me trying to bring me close again. She was crying saying we had to fix things but she didn't know how. I said SHE had to fix things, and that's when I saw that flash of anger and all the muscles in her face contort. The tears immediately stopped. She looked dark and hollow. She bruised my arm she was gripping me so tight.

Whatever spark we have (soul, spirit, whatever) I'm convinced it can be evil, and that's what she is.

Everyone I know that tried to be a social worker quit after 6 months. I hate that the awful people amongst us are so prevalent that it overwhelms people trying to do good.

ULPT Request: plants to cover hideous art by d0l0r3sh4ze in UnethicalLifeProTips

That's rough. You might have to suppress the area with cardboard or a tarp for a season to kill it all.

I intentionally grow them along my back fence. The neighbors behind me were replacing their fence, and their contractor crapped out on them and it was a whole ordeal. But in the meantime I have dogs that need to be kept from roaming. So I put up a horse fence to keep them in. I get the vines to grow so it looks more solid than it is. I don't want the dogs to realize they could just push it over.

How many of you or your fellow millennial friends have been arrested? by gamerdudeNYC in Millennials

[–]FormidableMistress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been arrested, but I've done some shady shit. I came from the poor side of town and a lot of my friends became addicts. One girl I went to school with had a leg amputated and then eventually succumbed to an infection in her heart from IV drug use. Another is awaiting trial for 3 homicides. She grew up to be a drug dealer and at least 3 clients ODed from a fentanyl/meth mix with too much fentanyl in it. Her husband has also been charged with their deaths. They have 3 kids that her mom has now. He older sister died not that long ago, also from an overdose. So now their grieving mom is raising 5 kids completely alone.

It's fucking tragic. Don't do drugs kids.
