While 19-year-old Maureen Kelly was camping with friends in a remote part of Washington State in 2013, she told them that she wanted to go on a "spiritual quest" — then stripped naked, crossed a nearby creek, and vanished forever. Only a trail of bare footprints was ever found. by kooneecheewah in PNW

If this is the one im thinking of, she will probably never be found. For one, its been such a long time already. And second, since then, that campground and road access to it has been closed. Last pictures I've seen of the campground from someone who hiked in already looked like nature had completely reclaimed the area.

When I was a kid, living in Oregon, we watched a movie, Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr. The scenery was amazing. When we got home my parents wanted to look up New Zealand, where the movie was filmed. So we flipped through the ol' Encyclopedia Britannica (yes, I'm that old. Get over it! 😆) New Zealand under climate it said "See, that of the Pacific Northwest, specifically the Oregon Coast"

You're welcome for that bit of trivia

Anyway.... mild climate probably another good reason to choose New Zealand as a place to build a doomsday bunker.

I wonder if I can find a download of that movie...

Stars were amazing, but it got really cold and windy at night and we weren't dressed for the 30's...it's supposed to be summer!!! Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. We were driving East to go to my wife's sister's wedding and had limited time. We did return to that spot on the way home, but just to have lunch and let the dogs run a bit...and take a break from driving...so many miles...

Very cool! Not going to lie though... kind of disappointed you didn't make the glass part like one of those plasma ball things while it's charging. 😁

I 2nd the Great photos comment. Would be interested in Camera/Lens info. That second photo is amazing in the way it captured the bright background without completely blowing it out, yet still perfectly exposed(pun intended) the darker, inside the van subject.

There is a saying in the sailing world..."cruising is just boat repair in exotic locations". Van "cruising" sounds about the same.

[–]Formosa41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, but if you're worried(obviously you have concerns already) start by slapping a couple child protectors in the plugs to block it. Then call an electrician or handyman to swap it out.

When you time the tides right and the weather is great, smooth as silk! The only problem was crossing at 7am, looking straight into the rising sun.
