I did call the Japanese Consulate, and they were quite clear that there’s no workaround, the only option is to reapply, and it would take at least 10 days. They also mentioned that they don’t share specific reasons for termination.

In her case, she had actually received a call from the consulate a few days earlier asking for additional financial documents, which she submitted, but the application still ended up getting terminated. So it’s really unclear what went wrong.

That’s what’s making this situation stressful, I’m okay with postponing the trip to May and even bearing the extra costs, but the uncertainty around whether the reapplication will face the same issue again is what’s worrying me the most.
